Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

your one is geo specific so could work out well

I am not sure what the point is honestly. Do you guys actually think end users are going to pay to be listed on these sites?

Why?

Let's say you are a real estate agent in Indianapolis. They are going to be listed in the phonebook anyway, as well as having their own website.

Are you expecting them to pay to be listed on every relevant .TEL?

RealEstate.com
USRealEstate.tel
Indiana.tel
Indianapolis.tel
IndianaRealEstate.tel
RealEstateAgents.tel

and tons of others.

I just don't see it. Some of the points here are realistic and well thought out. Some are delusional IMO.

See how nice and convinient to have a dot tel in action:

www.tahitiecotourism.com/aboutus.php

when click it redirect to contact page and look at the subdomain.
So will start offering contact pages for each country that have ecotours and ecotourism with yearly fees of course.

And why would anyone want to use that when they can just set up contact.html on their own site for free?

Good question.

Yes everybody have a contact page but they can have an additional contact page that is made for mobile devices and is listed in a ecotours directory. Also how nicer to have hawaii.ecotours.tel rather than hawaiihumpbackwhaleswhatching.tel if they want to reg the tel of thier company or website.

Good luck selling or renting subdomains on .TEL, I just don't see it happening.

no i dont think anyone will pay to be on a directory regarding .tel , do i think perhaps i might sell my .tel (only one for sale ) ..... perhaps ???

i wonder why you assume everything will be a directory ?

i would only wish to sell to the person that can use it

we are not all thinking the same with our .tels

What else are you going to do with .TEL? It isn't like you can develop it. It is meant to share contact info within a rigid format. It is by it's nature a directory.

I can see a few premium .tel selling to end users, and as far as I am concerned that is the only realistic way to monetize it. Sell a .TEL for more than you paid. The massive directories and subdomains people have talked about are not gonna happen.

I posted this before in the other .TEL thread

I really only see a couple long term uses.

1.) Business to have their contact info consolidated in one place.
2.) Individuals to have their contact info either with first or last name. It is also is a good way for families to list everyone's contact info in one place under their Name.tel

Other than that I don't see massive value to end users.

I am not saying there is no value in premium .TEL like Chicago.tel, or Hotels.tel, however I have seen people regging some real niche terms that are barely good in .COM. Many users are also talking about turning sites into some type of massive directories that they can monetize. That is not realistic.

I could see the value in true premiums. Realtor.tel, Chicago.tel, Hotels.tel, etc.

But most of the names being regged are not that quality by any means. A lot of the people here just seem to be drinking the Kool-Aid.

i have two .tels , one is my nickname , the other is irealestate , the second i would imagine could be handy for someone in the industry .......very simple

other than that i really dont know what the fuss is about ???????

so build a bridge ........the rest you know what to do (i hope)

i love the way some people love to be the villian in these threads , its quite funny .... whatever gets you through the day i guess ?

NewYork.tel
LosAngeles.tel
Chicago.tel
Phoenix.tel
Philadelphia.tel
SanDiego.tel
Texas.tel

Among hundreds of others... Some BS going on there.

Brad

Is the same Daniel Fuehrer from DanielFuehrer.net? A "designer for the cosmos" to buy all these and many more? Poor guy...

PS: If you want to make some quick money, here's a tip: DanielFuehrer.tel is still available :hehe:

He didn’t register it on purpose. :D
Joking aside, .tel with personal names is just a liability. You don’t need to have Einstein’s brain to work it out.

This german gentleman managed to pick up at least two of those domains during sunrise and from what I can tell he is a different one to the dot net. If someone gets in that early I'm sure he would not forget to pickup his own name.tel

BTW talking of people picking up famous peoples names and other trademarks. I noticed narnia dot tel was on the dropped landrush premiums list prior to launch D-:
Hope it was the CS Lewis estate that picked it up in the end.

Subdomains are just not popular nowadays. If they really were, fewer domains would sell :bah:

Look around you. How often do you visit subdomains ?
