For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

The only way that is real is if he used CSS to modify the profile the same way you would on MySpace. I didn't buy any .tel's, so I don't know if they allow the number of characters it would take to do that.

At this point there is nothing stopping other social systems from getting their own TLD to compete with .tel. MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc..... could all have their own TLD, and if that happens .tel has ZERO chance.

No, they have already said they would not allow a similar TLD like .tel.

It will take more than this for .tel to catch on since everything you said can apply to any contact site hosted on a .com.

.tel is for all intents and purposes a rinky dink social site hooked up directly to a TLD. MySpace could get their own TLD and sell username.MS for example.

At this point there is nothing stopping other social systems from getting their own TLD to compete with .tel. MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc..... could all have their own TLD, and if that happens .tel has ZERO chance.

The key to mass success is simplicity. And .tel is dead easy to use.

It has the advantages of
1. a need for every person
2. large accessibility
3. easyness of use
4. low cost
5. centralized management
6. security better than average
7. its unique in nature ( not similar to .mobi etc)

PS We dont know at the moment but in the future there may be additional applications included in the package

has anybody faced this problem? - after the transfer of a .tel domain from my account to another account the domain itself was transferred BUT the telhosting account was not transferred. So the new owner cannot use the telhosting control panel to edit the domain.
In Name.com I was told that "The .tel registry does not support
transfers yet".

Ok guys, just tried transferring a domain to another account and yes this is a huge problem!!
The original registrant account that you use to buy your domains (whetehr it's with name.com or domainmonster), automatically assigns the telhosting to it and you cannot change it individually at present. If you transfer a domain over by itself it will transfer fine, but the control panel will not go with it and it cannot be assigned an individual password... you could give the new owner your telhosting password but they will have access to the tellhosting of all your domains in that one account... this is absolutely insane!

I'm sure this will be fixed by telnic (because it's their telhosting software that's the problem), but I will contact Henri personally and update you all when I hear more. Luckily Telnic have been very keen to fix probs as soon as they're spotted, but this needs to be rectified fast as otherwise there will be a ton of upset people when they go to transfer a domain and that wouldnt be good.
