Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

Illinois.tel is a nice one but do you really think people will pay you for a subdomain on MyPersonal.tel? They might as well just get their own .tel domain. I would rather own the entire Neil2.tel or Neil7.tel than to lease a subdomain from someone else at Neil.MyPersonal.tel. It seems like everyone with .tel domains thinks people will automatically want to pay them for subdomains and a link.

I don't expect anyone to want to pay for a subdomain on MyPersonal.tel. I definitely have no plans of trying to charge for that, since people could just go get their own .tel for like you pointed out for $10. I see MyPersonal.tel as more of a freebie site for individuals :)

I am hoping though that .tel will evolve a bit over the next several months and maybe there will be ways to make a little cash off of a freebie site like that with adsense or something. If not, it was only $10, so I'm not out too much..and it'll just join the list of my other sites that have no ads on them that don't earn a penny :p

I actually plan on having a lot of freebie listings on illinois.tel too, but (if things work the way I think they do) have a paid link section as well for businesses. I need to get them resolving and up first though. For some reason my "telhost" account is broken at dynadot, and only a few of my .tel domains are showing up in it..and none of them are resolving yet :(

linkfarm.tel is available. Looks like a perfect fit to me ;)

Ahaha good one!

I still can't even test mine out as they are still not working in my telhosting account. :td:

Come on .tel - I'm giving you a chance! Even mobi's worked right out of the gate! :hehe:

I registered only 5 .TEL domains. I'm pretty sure
4 of them fit well with the extension. Not so sure
of this one I regged yesterday: 'Science Fiction',
but it was available and I enjoy the subject.

Now that registration prices are more affordable we're starting to see some real awful domains like TMs. It is sad to observe the same patterns at every new TLD launch.

The registry loves them.

I can not believe the ignorance of the naysayers on this thread. To develop a .tel you have to think. It's got to the point where I can't read this thread any more - I have never seen so many negative people in one place.

The people with great ideas can not post them in this thread for commercial reasons. We are not going to give ideas away for free.

That's all from me for a while. It's too depressing (and pathetic)!

Agree with Billy above (although not with your preference for slim women- as in the voluptuous and gorgeous girl in the Telnic advert)
Although I will stay on the thread and would love any suggestions on running ForSale.Tel

I see by your join date that you missed out on .mobi's introduction here -- believe me, you ain't seen nothin', baby! They're going easy on you... (Although if you go check out the .mobi subforum you can still get a taste of it...trust me, it'll never end, so be prepared to have a thick skin.)

Nonetheless, yes, people will give away ideas for free here -- that's what makes this a great place despite these kinds of attacks: there's a lot of sharing of ideas. So basically, if it hasn't shown up anywhere here as an .tel development idea yet, it probably hasn't been thought of yet.

My login to my .tel is different from my login to my registrar/hosting
(Dynadot)
After I created the initial .tel username/password at the
registrar, I don't have to go through the registrar to login anymore
and any .tel I bought after, automatically goes into the
specific .tel account without me having to log in to the registrar.

It should be separate.

Yes, but if i give someone that user/pass, he (or she) will be able to manage all of my .tel domains registered with that registar. I bought a .tel for my girlfriend, and i would like to give her control over it, without giving her control over other .tels..

You may be right. We may be crazy.

Errrr... but we could also be right. The trick is to have fun with whatever arrows you have in your quiver.

Cheers, :ghost:

well said dag about exchanging ideas, this is the soul of a forum.
Development ideas?
well at this stage you can basically:
Build a directory accordingly to your .tel name (eg my hotelrome has around 1million monthly searches according to adwords)
So set up: cheap.romehotel , 2stars.romehotel, luxury.romehotel and so on .
Then:
1)contact hotels in rome that could be part of the network for a yearly fee (however it takes a lot of work to do that).(eg hilton.romehotel, or included in a broader directory)
2)at each category will correspond 1 or more links to your websites pages on rome hotels (with ads or affiliates), possibly on the spot (cheap.romehotel will bring to a page with ads on cheap hotels...). This route will be probably easier to implement.

Any more ideas guys? B-)

Indeed. This is such a great forum because people are willing to share their ideas and help one another out.

Not sure why people resort to such attacks. I believe a .tel thread was removed the other day due to such hostility.

Just because its a new extension doesn't mean it will fail (although history tends to repeat itself). Once again though we digress :)

Let's start showcasing more .tels!

Should work. Just open a new dynadot account and push her the domain that way she only has access to said domain.

For having "gone down the crapper", it seems to me, a premium keyword .mobi still fetches a pretty penny.

.mobi hasn't failed by any means, but it has failed expectations. In that regard, .tel will probably share the same success if not more as .mobi. It has only been 2 days so we'll have to wait and see how .tel plays out. Geos and names should enjoy the most success. As for "keywords" not pertaining to contact-related info. that's another story :)

personally i feel, what ever is written is going to happen no matter how hard you try, sharing information or giving ideas does not kill you, if one is such an innovative person he/she should learn to share or recreate ideas for fellow people whom he trust or can reply on. no1 comes fully prepared for anything from mothers's womb.

help the ones who dont know, never put them down as if they know noting and your king kong, helping others and sharing or agreeing with their opions no matter how old you are in experiences makes him better and you more wiser :)

just got hold of

Righto, stay cool and embrace the naysayers ... teach them ... there's very likely much to be learned from their opinions, and - as importantly - you should be confident enough in your investment(s) not to let it phase you IMHO. :gl:
