Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

hasseily,
Thanks for stopping by!
Both you and Justin are much appreciated for your input, explanations and vision for the internet future.
It is refreshing to see the pioneering attitude in action.
Upon first hearing about .tel, I was reluctant ... to say the least.
However, with further study, it became more and more clear.
Once the .tel proposition is fully understood, the creative mind can grasp the unique approach.
Of course, we are looking forward to further progression and are pleased to know that telnic has an open mind to implementing fresh ideas, no matter from where they come.
Don't be a stranger... pop in from time to time!

We really appreciate the kind words. We try to plan for every eventuality, and we hope that the infrastructure and policies set in place will allow for the building of amazing products. We're showing you a number of ways to use .tel, and we can tell you what we think will work, but we must and will rely on your entrepreneurial spirit and creativity to determine what to do with it. All I know is that .tel solves significant problems in a massive market that is full of inefficiencies. And that generally provides utility (money/happiness/...) for everyone in the value chain.

I was done with the internet and ready to enjoy life, but I figured I couldn't live with myself if in years to come I told my grandchildren we didn't try to go beyond phone numbers when we had the chance.

I'm going back to lurking, leaving the floor to Justin, so to speak.

PS: Are you guys sending us feedback on the Telhosting console via the proper channel? it's easy to miss useful info in forums such as these.

Guys atleast be honest, I think there are better names avaliable still, why would you still get verb plus "ed" in the end names, you can do alot better!

Normally, I would agree with this truism.

However, the -ed works very well here because of the way we think of classified ads.

help.wanted.tel

jobs.wanted.tel

Insurance.wanted.tel

Homes.wanted.tel

RealEstate.wanted.tel

Loans.wanted.tel

In this context, "want" just wouldn't work as well, although "want" could work in another context.

This could be a nice lucrative domain.

Have been doing a lot of keyword searching for .tels still available- still some good ones but most have dissapeared, especially 3 letter words...having said that, I just grabbed fat.tel for a family member just now- that's gotta be a winner IMHO. :sold:

Yes, they're going fast now.

Be careful with fat.tel; your family member might not appreciate it being regged just for him/her. Fat people tend to be sensitive about that term and their weight--I should know!

However, dieting is a major industry, so you may end up with a very nice niche directory.

Haha, no, the family member is the opposite of fat and is buying to build a directory for diet related issues only because of the possibilities as aniche..I'm not a complete ass, lol. But thanks for the tip in case I was :notme:
P.S. something that I also do is go and look at the .com version of a name before buying, this can also give ideas for the directory.. fat.com for example, just offers links to further info on dieting etc. They would be getting a fair bit of traffic I imagine because fat has 400,000 exact matches per month on google keyword tool for a start and some of that is bound to be people interested in dieting etc.

For the benefit of Mr Kite (microman) I think .tel is the most overated extension so far, what a crap idea, it will never take off!... now that everyone is happy on here, lets get back to reality and talk about how amazingly attractive .tel really is.

:hi:

I'm here, but as I've stated repeatedly and from the very early beginning ... and very PUBLICLY over and over again, I'm not investing in any highly brandable .TEL's at this time, IMHO. :gl:

What I have also observed and stated ... is my opinion that the short and very highly brandable .TEL is much more attractive and easier to effectively brand than the long, awkward, and unprofessional "dot Mobey" extension - and in this regard, there will be a lot of interest and investment shifting from the failed "dot Mobey" to the new and highly brandable .TEL, IMHO. :talk:
Looks like my early predictions were correct! :music: :bingo:

I think this post was supposed to relate to Microguy wasn't it? Anywhom, thanks for your blessings.

Mate, most of this is old news and you probably had to search deep to find it among the hoards of articles in support of .tel. There will always be naysayers and some points are valid of course, or at least worth investigating, that way folks can make informed decisions. I dont think the spamming issue is as much of a big deal as you try to make out though, it's prevalent everywhere.
