Hi

For this, let's assume that .tel will not be a total flop.

What type of keywords will be most valuable for this extension? Will it be geographical keywords, like newyork.tel, losangeles.tel, etc, or what else?

I have stated this before. The search engines will dislike .TEL
Not because of the lack of content but they will see every .TEL
domain as a micro search engine. So its not in their interest, just my
opinion.

Actually, I believe Telnic is in discussions with Google about its handling of .tels. Any statement on that handling is premature at this stage IMHO. :santa:

I found those results too: kprobe.tel. The number 1 on the search is a COM, followed by 1 ac.uk, 2 co.uk, then a TEL, followed by a NET. That's a pretty good range of TLDs. Not bad. Congrats if anyone here owns kprobe.

That's funny. I didn't even notice it was you, Mark. Good job. That's what I get for writing in a bunch of forums at once. :red:

The question is not whether .tel names will be indexed (they are and they will be), but how they will rank. I would guess 'traditional' parameters like contents (or the lack thereof :D) and link juice would still apply. Given the absence of real contents you start at a disadvantage.
Google is a search engine while .tel works like a directory. These are different things. It's like having Dmoz indexed in google :p

I'm attempting to optimize semantic search phrases.

For instance, VEH.tel ranks no 1 for semantic phrase: new veh, popular for the phrases: new vehicle, new vehicles.

These are not highly visible search phrases, but this type of optimization is providing me a way to adjust my SEO methodology to fit .TEL.

Give me a .TEL that ranks in the first page with at least a google keyword score of 1000 searches a month, even that miniscule. All these examples I am seeing have 0-100 searches a month.

Announcing Telsaurus - Google Search for .tel.
The press release is short and sweet:
"Search for people and businesses, find all of their contact information in one place."
What is this: Telsaurus.com? Is this really a Google initiative? :o
If so, then this is amazingly HUGE info for all involved in .TEL!
Actually, it would be AWESOME!
Can someone please elaborate? Thanks.

Sorry this has nothing to do with Google. If you look at the whois email contact its PlaggyPig. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Yes, just to confirm Telsaurus is a Custom Google Search Engine that filters results for the .tel namespace. In the future it will develop into a fully fledged .tel search engine.

Better than a parking page - just checked the stats and it's already served up thousands of queries :)

Yes, to customize the google search engine, use Custom Google Search and modify it by adding "site:.tel" filter.

Thanks for the info guys! :)
If I wasn't multi-tasking with several monitors and focused in a bit,
I just might have figured that out ..... eventually. :hehe:
Still... it is pretty cool tho! :sold:

Sam. It takes at least 3 months to yield competitive results for premium "keyword phrases". This is even true in dealing with .com.

The example I cited shows that 'off-page optimization' is possible. And that if done in the right manner, .tel will be able to rank well on Google. (but, don't expect results this soon)

Thanks,

@chader144 let me know what you need. there are enough samples out there now that it should be quite straightforward.

I was missing the wsdl but I found name.com's ... I am assuming they are the same for all the other registrars and are relatively in the same place?

I am going to prototype one hopefully by the end of the week. Maybe I ll share a link here for some to test.

I'm looking to lease some of my domains for short term purposes.

For example, someone selling a business would not necessarily want to buy BusinessForSale.tel but, perhaps, lease it for the time it takes to sell his/her business. And then I would lease to the next "business for sale" customer.

I have set up a card for this domain, and I'm sharing it here because I want telsters and naysayers to see how monetization can be achieved in other ways other than directories and linking to monetization websites.

Please. I don't need to hear how this all sucks and that tel is lame. I already know how some naysayers feel about this TLD.

What I am saying: this business model will become extremely viable and lucrative as .tel itself becomes better known.

For those of us who have ______forSale.tel sites (and we are many--I have checked), I believe we will do very well.

Doesn't someone here have ForSale [dot] tel? If so, congrats.

:)

working on leasing out "meetup" as we speak... :) good stuff

Are you giving an option to buy on your lease? How many times are you allowing your clients to request updates?

not to go into great detail but to share some... I am looking at about 10 a month for a 2nd level folder with the ability to send me changes once a month. with a possible option to purchase the entire domain starting at $x,xxx w/bid and purchase preference... Just writing up the details now.

Dont forget that before you plan leasing your dot tel you'll have to setup a business license first. When you sell a domain name, don't really need a business license.

That's why you see more dot com for sale and rarely for lease.
