The reputation system allows users to give each other anonymous feedback about their posts. The feedback can be either positive or negative.

Each user has a reputation rank. This rank is determined by the number of reputation points you have received. Your reputation rank is only viewable by other members if you have enabled it in your Control Panel: Options setting. Otherwise, your reputation is completely private.

Because the system is entirely anonymous, there is no way of seeing who has given you reputation points or comments.

You cannot give reputation points to more than 20 other members in a day, and you may not give reputation points to the same member twice (without giving points to at least 20 other members in between).

Levels
While you cannot see the exact reputation score of others, you can see approximately how much they have, by looking at the ALT-tag of the reputation dots.

User is infamous around these parts (below -50)
User can only hope to improve (-50)
User has a little shameless behaviour in the past (-10)
User is an unknown quantity at this point (0)
User is on a distinguished road (10)

Peace,

Nice guide! I've often wondered about the spreading rep around thing.

Now I know, thanks!

Correct me if I am wrong, but is each green square equivalent to 100 points?
Thank-you for clarifying/explaining the reputation system, Cyberian!

Thanks Cyberian, I wasn't really sure what this was. How many points represent 1 green box?

You can view how many points you have by clicking on User CP and then scrolling down to where it says Latest Reputation Received. To the right of that is your total rep points.

I have 995 :)

List above explains all..... 100 each up to 650 then 350 then 500 to raise levels. :snaphappy:

I'm not sure, but, isn't it something to do with how long you have been a member?

OK that makes sense after looking at everyones. Looks like: light yellow for almost a year, dark yellow for one year, two stars for approaching 2 years, after two years one of the stars rotates. :D

The Reputation System is "broken". If you give a neg rep point it never shows until RJ "approves" it. :(

Me too... I believe I have over 4000 rep points but haven't looked in awhile. Positive trader ratings help ;)

thats probably a good idea... most other big forums with a rep system the neg rep gets abused alot and you see people giving neg rep for things such asd a post in the wrong forum.
