Over a year ago, I have ventured into the domain business and hand registered a number of domains, didn't have any luck, I have tried to get into the Pending delete and Pre release market but you need a sustainable amount of cash to get the best domains. In 6 months, I was not able to sell anything this prompt me to learn to develop my domains using a content management system called wordpress.

It opened a ton of opportunities in the web design business, my clients mostly are small to medium firms. It didn't last long until I have learned to code php and mysql and I totally scrapped wordpress. I have continued my business while keeping my full time job a Network Engineer.

Currently I am into developing Android Apps, which has allowed me to expand my market, and we are about to start a technological firm in my native country.

As for the domain business, the cliche "All the good domains are gone" is very true, all of them were purchased in the 90's and now are selling for 6 to 7 figures. High value domains have five attributes:

  1. Age - 90's
  • Search volume - over 100,000
  • .Com
  • Generic e.g cars.com
  • cpc

So if anyone of you want to make it big in the domain business, unfortunately, the big players have got connections, network and resources to get all the good domains.

all the good domains are not gone.

why?

because...there are good domains, which haven't been created yet.

I guess you are referring to future trends, that's a shot in the dark and until you have proven a viable revenue stream.

dude

it's all a shot in the dark

before internet, there were no domain names.

beginning of internet, it was all shot in the dark

it was all based on "future trends" then and will always be.

internet is an evolution process, in process, and it will proceed to it's destiny....and this day, on that day, will be the past.

everything that happens in between now and then, is a shot in the dark.

the probabilities of hitting your target, depends on knowledge and skills.

imo...
