It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

This is truly unbelievable. GoDaddy is expecting to have a Pro auction with no marketing at all. The first sign of the auction on GoDaddy is on the main auction landing page and if you're not looking for it there's a good chance that you won't see it.

EnCirca and Registrypro have also cut back on their marketing budgets and decided not to promote the auction at all. Both sites should have a blaring banner on their home pages ... instead, they've opted for nothing.

I could sell frickin' ice cubes to Eskimos if I had a good marketing plan and good execution. What in the hell are these people doing ???????

Auction Secret

1. Retweet this: http://twitter.com/#!/RegistryPro/status/155385533432991744

2. Check any domain parked at GoDaddy, for ex. http://developedia.org
I see .PROmotion… )

Twitter shows .pro registry with 424 followers

The GoDaddy parked pages ..would be curious to know the analytics of click troughs.

Not sure about everyone else but it does seem like the marketing is slightly under the radar of normal marketing. Are they intentionally not marketing to the domain industry? If it was not for this thread I would not even know about the GoDaddy auction.

Should be an interesting auction....if possible I will try and participate...but doubt I can compete....I expect just a few .pro portfolio owners can easily take the majority of these domains

Job.pro starting at $50 ??? are you kidding me ?

1.pro $5K dudu.com $ 1million

Might not see another opportunity like this for a long long time

Exactly! I plan to bid for 4-5 names too but I suspect I will be beaten by large .pro portfolio holders. Well, can't complain; this is a free market. LOL

Probably Registry.pro has minimal advertising budget.

.CO success is based on Latona's PR.
Parsons is co-owner of .ME

p.s. Latona.co dropped and available.

And so what???
http://twitter.com/ORGBuzz - 872 followers.

I didn’t think that I needed to add (that it’s a very small number) in this thread as everyone here is a Pro

I believe the tone of the post was insinuating that not very much marketing was been done.

Never the less this offers an opportunity for us that follow this thread.

Good luck to everyone.

Good luck to everyone.

JOB.PRO looks like a decent deal.

The rest are mostly overpriced. Not winning those might be the best luck you can get. IMO.

I don't think job.pro is going to be sold for just $50. This is a good strategy though to attract more bids and naturally create more interest.

So O.co is worth 350k ( this on an extension belonging to another country and confusingly similar to .com )

Meet.me sells for 450k....yet again on another country's extension

But a 1 - 3 number or letter .pro is over priced in the auction in your opinion.

Please elaborate on why you think this.

"$450K meet.me" - PRIVATE transaction, another viral marketing by Schwartz.

O.CO - DIRECT sale from columbian narCO-Registry to Overstock.
Bonus: www.mainstreet.com/article/small-business/why-oco-didn-t-work-overstockcom

I am not certain I understand your post..and in no way am I sugesting that its directed to me other than it seems like it is....but...

are you sugesting that "private" and "direct" sales are not to be used as sale comparables...or that those sales don't count ?

Maybe sales comparables on other tlds only count if not a direct or private sale ?

I do not believe in fairy tales like 6-figures private ccTLD-sales (except strong ccTLDs, .DE for example).
Compare with 3D.COM sold for $500K.

Please elaborate on why you think this.

Sure.

I think in the next 24 months .PRO could look a lot like .MOBI. I also think there's a possibility the registry could become bankrupt and/or we could see the TLD become defunct. There is obviously some serious problems or the registry would not be opening up registrations and taking other desperate measures.

My point was really that NOT WINNING any of these domains could very well be the luckiest thing to ever happen to the losers in this auction.

Only time will tell. IMO

kuhni.pro ("kitchens" in ukrainian & russian) recently sold for $400 at forum.searchengines.ru

Please show me your .MOBIs sold for $400 to resellers.

Yes anything can happen...the .mobi could have happened to .me or .co but it did not

The fact that .co relaunched and got picked up by other registries ended up been a good thing

More registries signing up to sell a gtld you would think is a good thing....and not a sign that its over....looks like Godaddy might be selling it also

Is it not a leap to come to the conclusion that the auction and new registries are a bad omen versus a good one ? but for the other extensions it was a good omen ?

Based on what I'm hearing and seeing and based on current market sentiment, it is my view that .PRO is nearing the end of its run in terms of growth and overall investment viability.

I think the lucky ones will be those that plan and execute a speedy exit strategy from this once promising TLD and those that fail to "WIN" the domains in this auction.

Good luck and may the force be with you! %%-
