It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

the extension was put in a corner along with .travel and the likes. I can only hope that ICANN and the registry remove all registration requirements after they open the internet to any and all extensions.

It probably made sense back when .pro was allowed, but now who is to stop .eng or .arch or .aia or any other professional group from creating their own extension anyway. These restrictions on .pro are going to be old rules shortly as we are entering a completely new market.

Hopefully the registry realizes this and also the domain community. Since most internet sites have to comply with some form of professional registration anyway to run an online business within the countries that they are based in..the whole idea of having a professional extension doesn't really make that much sense.

However...the actualy word PRO remains an excellent domain extension regardless of whether there are registration rules or not. I personally wish it would be open to the mass market as freely as the .nets, .co or .orgs of the world as it is an extension that really does help amplify the keyword domains they are associated with.

I don't see the extension dying, but do hope that they are given an equal opportunity in the sea change that we are about to witness with the great quantity of extensions about to hit the market.

Hopefully this is a transition in part by the registry to a more open and freely traded .pro extension in the future.

I'm actually thinking that it is nice that they haven't made a screaming big promotional deal out of this yet...though behind the scenes, I think pro 2.0 is certainly going through some big changes that should help the extension trade more freely as well as allow for the transfer of domains between registrars more easily.

I'm still holding strong on .pro as the extension is still growing with new registrants and have to think other s here are going to do the same as I don't see any evidence of anything but growth.

Lack of exposure doesn't help either.

When you look at the list of .pro registrars there are not many major registrars. The audience is limited as a result.

In theory you can reg with name.com or enom.com but they are not promoting .pro.
You already need to know what you want, because they won't make suggestions. The audience is further limited.

If .pro wants to be successful they need to convince the big registrars they should carry .pro. But even minor restrictions/requirements are a put-off and a worry when you can get another extension and get started immediately.

I'd sell it, but that's your call only. Or wait a couple of days and decide then.

I have been craving for a .pro domain for a long time now, but still not convinced to spend my money on anything.

Accept the offer and keep your fingers crossed that it's legitimate. Sometimes I cross my toes too to bring extra luck.

Hi beltelmer. I'm really not sure what your question is so I just made one up. Regarding value, we really can't discuss that on this forum. You would have to take it to the Appraisal Forum. But I think the only thing you'll get there is a lot of uninformed advice and a headache. But putting a value on a PRO is just a shot in the dark. I would browse through the list of sales on Total.pro to get a feel for past sale prices.

But I did look up the occurrence of "I" and "E" sales. What I found was as follows.

There are 58 PRO sales logged on NameBio and only one of those is a keyword preceded by an "E" or an "I." eBook.pro sold for $3,900 on 02/09/2011. Ironically Book.pro was sold two days earlier for $900 less.

Total.pro shows that iGame.pro was sold for $1,800 in December of last year. Total.pro also shows close to 120 total PRO sales as opposed to the 58 on NameBio.

And I believe that's all for now. Cheers !!!!!!!!!!!

Well then, you're a pro :)) Good luck selling that domain, I still say you should sell it for 700.

Where can we get the cheapest .pro domains?
