It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it.

Congratulation AK !!! Maybe your cost of living is out of sight in the UK but $1500 would make me extremely happy about now. $150 would work too. It'll buy a lot of diapers too !!!

After 15% Sedo commission and converted back to UK pounds I get about GBP £770. To put that into context, I had a GBP £2,000 .pro renewal bill last month. If domainers on NP could only sell for what other domainers on NP could afford or were willing to pay, there wouldn't be any point to doing this. Fortunately, it's a big world, there is alot of money to be made online, and .pro is a very brandable domain extension.

.Pro is gaining recognition. I keep pushing on Hostway to fix their so called technical glitch for not currently allowing transfered domains. Otherwise they offer 9.95 renewals...At some point, i'm hoping renewal fees drop.

Good news is, i'm noticing greater amounts of new registrants on the encirca just added rss list so do get the feeling that the domain is gaining ground with some new buyers coming in. At some point sales are going to pick up!

Yeah I can see how renewals would be more of a problem for you than most. You use EnCirca ?? $14.95 ??

Wondering what the typical wait is @ Encirca in order to setup forwarding. When I go into DNS management I cannot add a zone for the other...name servers are setup correctly btw.

This is how you set up forwarding at Encirca;

1) Set the domains to use the Encirca parking servers. This can be done by selecting the "Change to Parking" option in https://www.encirca.com/cgi-bin/rgsys/bulknameservers.cgi WARNING - this disrupts any other mail or web hosts on the domain.

2) log in to: https://www.encirca.com/signin/ then use the parking server script https://www.encirca.com/cgi-bin/parking/bulkforward.cgi

Total.pros registered in April 2011 rose 3% from 61,996 to 63,868 excluding the Hostway zip codes. RU Center was again the fastest growing register up 16% from 6,076 to 7,055. Average daily WHOIS searches rose by 27% from 23,136 to 29,384.

Not too shabby - my initial reaction was also to wonder why they rely on a .COM to host the site. Great names though.

nothing. remember they are owned by hostway the company that represents the main registry and can't transfer a .pro domain and still advertise the 9.95 transfer price.

it's a shame really with all this potential just sitting here.

I gave up on hostway as a registrar some time ago as they never fixed serious bugs in their user facing software. Not difficult stuff mind you.

And I think it's obvious that this registry is being badly mismanaged. This is death by a thousand cuts.

Nobody there can see the benefit of opening things up and seeing if this TLD has what it takes to really compete? Idiots.

Well, at least they are USING it. Its a new extension so it will take some time to catch on.

Why didn't they go for o.pro or Overstock.pro?

Good question. Obviously the .PRO registry doesn't feel the need to make their TLD attractive to potential registrants. .CO team was very aggressive in courting high profile registrants for their best inventory - twitter, google, etc. and getting the message out.

Lesson to be learned - instead of building walls and interpreting pointless restrictions, do some marketing. It works.

.CO (back to the original point) sold a million of them in the first year. Very hard to see the world in some way which makes this look like anything but a huge success.

If a high percentage of those buyers were end users, then I'd call it a huge success. How many of that million do you suppose were excited domainers?

I'm going to have to take back what I've said about Hostway as they were nice enough to call me concerning the technical transfer issues. I've been told that this issue may very well be resolved in late november early december. I'm hopeful that they will get this working as I'd really like to see 9.95 renewal fees. Again, I'm very hopeful this will happen as I believe they really are working on it as they say.
