It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

On the positive side, I've noticed some registrars reducing fees to 14.95 in specials most likely to combat with encirca's pricing. But not all of them as you stated. I was hoping that enom would make a bigger dent.

I'm definetly concerned over ranking in the search engines. I've made an effort to develop my .pros and most of them have a site attached. However, ranking now in bing and yahoo is plain tough. Google at least lists them. Maybe this is also a reflection of who has the most market share therefore .com's rule the market.

Still believe .pro is an opportunity as i've found many sites developed and seems to be popular extension also in foreign countries. I've seen good sites developed from canada, france, russia and spain. So even though the extension is growing more slowly than others I would hope that we are more stable in our slow climb in registrations and actual web development. I search for sites regularly and have found alot more .pros developed out there. Here are a few I found that are not my sites, but rather by others I thought were nice.

navona.pro
image3d.pro
castingcalls.pro
acne.pro
handheld.pro

i own AirlineTickets.pro , what do you guys say?

Popular keywords but would have to be developed. A lot of competition on bing, they own expedia right?

•••
who? you mean the .com version ?

Its the mother of all competitions :) , specially since this is a real web product that being purchase more and more only online .

Microsoft owns expedia, and when you search for tickets they show a form at the top. Google has done the thing for mortgage leads.

I didn't seen any other extensions developed so there is an opportunity. Did you just buy it?

Thats a bit over my head., but could this be hurting .pro search engine ranking?

I think we need more of a less technical answer to better understand. It sounds like an error is being received from google and .pro extension servers. Please explain the relevance further in relation to seo for the .pro extension.

Also, we should just send this question to registry.pro and have them answer it.

I've got some dot pro sold in the past and I've push to new user account, my question is why I still received email notification when domain will expire? Also, I check the whois and all were still with my infos. Something weird is that it's not listed in my encirca account of course as it have been push and sold to someone else.

So what should I do in future, what steps to push correctly to someone else without having these whois error and email notification, also as the current owner of my .pro can see domains in their encirca account, I assume that he can update infos and renew?

Some registrars require the new owner to change the contact details manually. I am not sure if this is the case with your registrar but it's worth checking it.

Two questions to registry.pro:

1. Why AUTHORITY SECTION is wrong?
2. Where's ANSWER SECTION?

So what you're think about it?
Even dotSO worked correct.

For me,
Code:
dig google.pro
gives normal results.

Did you try it with different second level domains?

Wow, good buy. My cotai.pro is showing up on page 19 on google under cotai. Good to see a little rise in some google results.

Great buy maybe.
I used to have Oahu, fully developped directory site with hundred thousands of entries, marketing, seo and advertising all over the net and in newspaper, classified ads, web radio ads... spend $$$$ but finally after a year I didn't even got 100 of visitors per day. So I sold my name for nuts and think that know it's not even up running.
To be honest and not hurt anyone here, .pro sucks!

Wouldn't you say that one year is a fairly short period of time in the early development and growth of a large site. Considering it was a Pro, could be that it needed another year.

You also have to consider the stats of Oahu vs Maui. There's a significant difference.

Nothing personal. Just thinking. I'm no expert.

Hope you are well Steveteva.

I hear what you're saying, and I could NOT disagree more. I believe .PRO is, perhaps, one of the best, most intuitive TLDs available. Decades before the Internet was even imagined, the word "PRO" was used in business names and advertising to both brand & describe.

In my opinion, it's a 100% failure of marketing. My observations on the importance of marketing domains to end users can be found HERE.

I continue to believe that when an investor with deep pockets takes an interest in .PRO, everything could turn around within a very short time frame. If .PRO wasn't an approved extension already, I have no doubt that it would be at the top of the list of the new "boutique" TLDs that would be applied for in the next several years.

It's not as if the term, "PRO" has somehow fallen out of favor in the lexicon of 21st century English. We're not talking about .DANDY! At the top of all pyramids - whether sports, business, music, film, etc., the word, "PRO" towers above the rest.

Pro Football

Pro Baseball

Pro Basketball

Golf Pro

When we refer a third party to a friend or associate, what do we say to make clear our personal endorsement of the third party's credentials?

.... a real Pro.

.... trusted Pro.

.... serious Pro.

.... a qualified Pro.

.... a no nonsense Pro.

Meet our resident Pro.

Absent the Internet, what three letter combination packs such a powerful punch - in and of itself?

Not "net"

Not "org"

Not "info"

Not "biz"

And with all due respect, certainly not "com"!

Please understand that I am not saying the extension .PRO is more valuable than the extension .COM because, clearly, it is not. But that is purely a function of who was first out of the gate, frequency of use, continued exposure and force of habit. Not because .COM was the better choice of TLD. Marketing companies often try to make a race horse out of horse manure, and sometimes they even succeed. Think about what smart, creative, compelling marketing could do when you not only start with a race horse, but it just happens to be the Triple Crown champion.

That is the intrinsic potential of .PRO!

Why a well healed investor has not yet identified the opportunity is a question that I cannot answer. Inefficient markets create opportunities, and .PRO is one of those opportunities in a big way.

โ€ฆโ€ฆand the answer is market forces, simple rules of demand and supply. Investors invest in such commodities which are high in demand, not based on personal tastes. :imho:
