It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

SEO concerns aside, I know one company that has been quietly buying up DOT PROs and I believe offers a good chance to get a little buz going around the extension in 2010.

THats one explanation behind low ball offers at sedo! :bingo:

No this company has been active on Snapnames. BTW you sold one of your domains to them.

Secondly, with Freelance.pro, you are combining an English keyword with French content, what do you think Google is going to think about that? Is it not logical that if you switch to the French version of the keyword in the French ccTLD, you just might get an SEO boost combined with French content?
Hi Akcampbell, in french, freelance = independant, both are used and search equally.
freelance.com and freelance.fr are well working website and rank well in google fr.

In french domain forum, there has been an interesting thread with many feedback and people benchmarking .pro seo impact. Globally, we agreed that .pro has a bad impact on seo.
I would also say that is temporary and one day, it will be better.

Freelance.com was regged in 98 and a .fr is always going to rank better in Google.fr because its the local ccTLD. No extension has a bad impact on SEO as you put it. Everything is a question of age and local region matching in terms of the domain. I understand Independant is Freelance is French, presumably that's what people in France are going to be searching for, not the English version freelance so you haven't made any earth shattering discoveries about SEO.

Credentials are not made public. RegistryPro check them or do whatever they do with them when you get verified. Registrars check qualifications on a sample basis every year.

Well I'm taking all of my .pros off of the market and putting them under my mattress. I sold SLOTS.ag, POKER.com.ag and WON.cc a year or so ago for next to nothing. They may still be worth next to nothing but I wouldn't mind having them back.

I won't make the same mistake with .pros.

Interesting access rate on parked domains

Hi,

I must admit that I didn't think that .pro domains would gain much type-in traffic, so I didn't park them until last month. My fault! :red:

There is some significant traffic on some of my domains. Interesting enough, most traffic is on German terms! :O That's strange, because the .pro extension is nearly unknown in Germany.

Here is the parking statistics for month January, i.e. for just one week:
http://www.kuli.org/parking-pro.png

There are no used similar domains like gesundheit-pro.de etc., and according to the wayback machine, only werbung.pro was little developed before.

The list does only contain those domains that are for sale, so some of the better ones aren't listed here.

Greetings,
Kuli

2010 and .pro

That's $12,099 for all the US folks who may have read that wrong at first. Great way to start off the new year for .pro!

Another bit of good news, Encirca just announced they are allowing for bulk .pro purchases:

EnCirca Offers Bulk Purchase Program for .pro Domain Names - FOXBusiness.com

BOSTON, Jan 06, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ ---- Effective January 6, 2010, EnCirca.com, registrar of the .pro top level domain, is offering a bulk purchase program designed to promote widespread use of the .pro domain name. EnCirca is soliciting expressions of interest from parties willing to commit to a minimum purchase of 5,000 .pro domain names. Selected parties will receive a discounted price lower than that available for dot-com domain names. The .pro bulk purchase program is ideal for professional trade associations, domain resellers and professional domain investors.

"In the past year, as .pro registration restrictions have been relaxed, the .pro zone file has grown 400 percent," says Thomas Barrett, President of EnCirca. "We expect even more growth in 2010 when one, two and three character .pro domain names are made available. Our current retail price for a .pro domain name is $14.95. We are looking for a partner interested in making a .pro bulk purchase for a greatly reduced cost."

The "Pro" suffix is recognized worldwide as a designation for "professional." This instant branding is one of the reasons for the .pro domain's increased popularity among professionals creating their own online brand.

The .pro domain is designed exclusively for use by all licensed professionals, such as lawyers, engineers, electricians and realtors, to help professionals establish online trust and communicate their credentials. There are no restrictions on the types of names a business may register. Businesses may register industry keywords, search engine terms, company names, or their trademarks. There is no limit to how many .pro domain names an individual or company can register. Dot-pro customers self-certify their professional status by providing their identification, contact information and profession-specific information, such as their license number.

All expressions of interest are confidential and more details can be found at .Pro Bulk Purchase Program

Great news about the $12,099 sale of Wordpress.pro. I would love to see it work but I can't see the .pro bulk purchase offers being taken up. Didn't something similar happen with .travel?

Bulk purchase of .pros is a bad idea. I want to see more .pros getting developed and everyday internet users getting famililar with the extension rather than entitys purchasing 5000 a time and never getting bespoke useful websites out to the general online public.

Bah..

I was going to develop a few of mine, but it has to wait now. My host wants to move each to an individual plan and rather then as subdomains under my main domain name and that's to costly for me right now, so guess they all get parked.

Wish someone would come along and offer me 1299.00 for one of my .pros, let alone 12,099!

fairies.pro, spells.pro, witchcraft.pro, historic.pro, graphicarts.pro, pixels.pro,
