It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

Hi Fellow Pros

Unlike many of you, I have no long-term plans for my Pros. My intent is to market other TLD's to end users but to sell my Pros to domainers. If you have looked at my fixed-price auction here on NP you've probably noticed that they are priced a little high for other domainers.

So as soon as I get a chance (later today) I'm going to cut most of the prices by 75%. Anything priced around $2000 will be reduced to $500. I won't be able to come off 75% on the lower priced stuff but I will be cutting their prices.

I'm sorry but none of the above applies to Cats. It is one Pro that I intend to market to the end user gang.

As they are currently priced, if you remove Cats, the price for the entire portfolio would be $44,265. If anyone is interested in taking all of them (sans Cats), I'll come off close to 80% and reduce the grand total to $9,500. Food for thought if nothing else.

Right now I have to go cut some grass and will be checking in from time to time.

Be back soon.
Charles

You want to develop a business directory and you are stuck between home staging and Auckland! I donโ€™t think any of the four names listed fits the idea at all.

On a different note, your .pro names are a waste of money with the exception of Auckland to some extent. Iโ€™d get rid of such .pro names and register/acquire single keywords dropping on a regular basis.

Wow that was cold but honest personal opinion!

home staging and stager is a gold mine and I will never let it expired because I already have an offer of $800 for it from a real professional I did ask more and he canceled transaction. I also have some low offers several times. I did get home staging from expiring, it was belonging to a home staging business that went out of business.

I like people like you who let drop 2 words domains specially nice ones so I grab it. LOL

Weren't you a little bit tempted to take the $800? I understand the industry is a gold mine but keywords have to be a goldmines from a domaining angle. If you look on Sedo, there are 6 bids on domains with HomeStaging in, 4 of them for HomeStaging.com, there are no bids outside .com, if you receive a bid for the .pro, that means somebody has jumped 5-6 more established gTLDs, so I would have been tempted to sell. There are no previous sales on dnsaleprice for the keyword homestaging, it's a great name to develop but will be hard to sell to another domainer.

Fixed Auction Prices Lowered

Ohhhhhhtay. I have finished reducing all of the prices in my .PRO auction. Any .pro that was $2000 is now $500 and so on. When the sticky runs out in two days I'll relist the auction with the price reduction noted in the Title and list them on sedo as I have time. I hope you see something that you like.

odd. that thread doesn't show in search results when I search for .pro or .PRO

using the search box at top of page.

might be worth adding .pro and .PRO as separate words somewhere in the ad text.

Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant. But, you're right. Can't say that I understand that. Thanks for pointing it out.

Total .pros registered at the end of July were up 3.3% to 41,237. I added a blog article titled ".pro Scores 10 out of 10 on Aftermarket".

I added the tag for 'pro', comes up on the first page now.

".pro" should give you result #1

If anyone is buying please pm me, I have a shortlist I'll sell at cost, need the cash. Quite a few of them are from 2005, most are a LOT better than you can register now or even whats being sold in the aftermarket. Cheers!

Would anyone care to add
COAT.pro, JETSKI.pro or MONSTERS.pro
to their portfolio before I haul them away to the auction?
$400 each, $700 for two or $950 for all three.

Now there's a nice way to help a fellow domainer. Maybe you should be in another line of work. I've sold two for a combined $900+

You bought HomeStaging and HomeStager.pro but passed on COAT and JETSKI ??? Are you serious ??

I certainly do get why Big Jelly posted the above comments. Steve Teva, that wasn't very professional, especially for a .PRO enthusiast.

We're all here to support each other & back up .PRO.
One shouldn't be spiteful or jealous if a fellow domainer sells a .pro for a decent profit.
We should be happy for each other that things are finally going upwards!

Not jealous at all and happy if he sold his pro and so I m wrong with my previous comment but this forum is also to post personal opinion on domain names, I don't see any thing bad as long as you don t put that domain down. For domainers 1 domain could worth $$$$ and for other can worth $$ and that always Have been the case. I CAN say that Home staging worth over thousand while you wont agree and say it worth reg fee so the only one who is right is when a end user buys for the price he paid.

Sedo Pricing #@!!#1@!!

Next up, I have a few questions on pricing strategy on sedo. I have Cats.pro and KY6.net both listed at sedo. I am going to send very brief notes to somewhere between 50 and 100 "Cat" companies.

First of all, even though I've been selling (trying to sell) on sedo for 18 months and have read and reread their pricing rules I'm still not 100% clear on them. For example, if my asking price is $5000 for Cats but I would accept $800 as the starting bid, the only number that shows up in the listing is the $5000. If I was new to auctions, clicked on Cats and saw $5000, I would turn around and leave. I don't think that they make it clear at all that lower bids are acceptable. As far I know, the $800 is not mentioned at all.

Another option is to leave the price open and have it listed as a "Make Offer." Well nobody likes to see those, at least not in my experience.

IMO, the idea is to get a bid, any bid, to get the listing to go to auction where it will get some attention.

1 - If I set a low "Price" to lure in a bidder, there is no negotiating. If someone meets that price I am obligated to sell.

2 - If I set a "Minimum Price" (and nothing else), it is not shown in the listing. Again it only shows "Make Offer"

3 - And if I don't enter any pricing information, once again it displays "Make Offer."

IMO ... the pricing should be displayed as in one of the eBay pricing options, that is to have an asking price or Buy It Now along with a starting bid. I see no way to do that on sedo. Either your Maximum Price is displayed or "Make Offer." And I think that either of those options can scare people away.

Help !!!. Any ideas ???

thanks
chas

One thing to watch out for on Sedo is that their fees for selling .PRO domains. Its ridiculous. I wish buyers would just look at whois data and contact the seller at the listed email to avoid 300+ in fees... thats why it doesn't make sense selling .PRO on sedo but then again, its at least gives you a chance to put the domains in the market.

I mean, people bid on your domains for $160 and $150 out of that is the fees... you walk away with ten freaking dollars... talk about rip-off, the Sedo way.

I have never sold a domain on Sedo period. I quote a higher price on Sedo because of the high fees and slow domain transfer process. Also, I don't like the vetted comments, it makes it difficult to have a fluid discussion about valuation. It's better to have a back and forward discussion on valuation, then make bids and counterbids because by then you know where the other person is coming from.

Cats

Thanks for the sedo information. Cats.pro is the only name that I'm really pushing at the moment. I'm not going to sit on it and try to squeeze every last penny out of it. I'd rather put an attractive price on it and get a quick sale. I'll be sending out as many emails to cat businesses to advertise the sale and I might as well list it on Afternic, TDNAM and maybe DNJournal. Still, the $64,000 question is where to set the price. I don't want greed to get the best of me yet I don't want to come away from the sale feeling like an idiot. I do that a lot !!!

So that's my long-winded way of asking how much should I ask for Cats.pro. A few weeks ago a lot of PRO people said that they thought Cats was really the only domain that I should hold on to. So feel free to hit me with an offer if you feel like holding on to it.

And does DNJournal not allow bumps or am I just imagining things ??? They are a strange world to visit after hanging around here most of the time.

And thanks for your past, present and future input into my pro woes.

Charles
