It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

whitehouse.pro

I found that once I started searching on the Encirca Search Engine, I couldn't stop.
I grabbed whitehouse.pro recently.
I believe at one time whitehouse.com was an adult web page.
Now whitehouse.com is a political page / current events etc.
Since politics and the economy is at the top of the current events,
do you think there would be a use for whitehouse.pro now or in the future?
If so, how would you market and/or develop this?
Ok...so here I go back to the Encirca Search Engine...Later.

I put in a .pro and it said $73.99 for 2 years? That's $14.99 for the first year plus $59.99 for the second less a small incentive for a 2 year reg.

Sedo is reporting under its Recent Sales section that mascotas.pro and anuncios.pro sold for $1500 USD each. Great sales. Congrats to all parties. :sold:

I've been doing some research on the global market share of registrars that offer .pro;

Network Solutions - 6.6%
DomainPeople - 0.5%
Hostway - 0.3%

If you add in Encirca and other small registrars you would get to about 7.5%. The next question is what % of end users are eligible to register a .pro. This is much harder to estimate. If you assume every registered company can use its license to register a .pro, the % is relatively high. If you say, you've got to be individually professionally qualified in traditional white collar jobs, the % is tiny. Either way, when you take 7.5% of it, the resulting market .pro is currently being offered to is very small. If we assume eligibility is, say 13%, it brings the end user base down to 1%.

In turn, maybe only 1% of that 1% would consider registering a .pro because of their reluctance to switch from .com, ccTLD's and other alternative extensions. So before you know it, you are a selling to only 1 in 10,000 end users.

RegistryPro cannot make .pro work or make money selling to 1 in 10,000 end users. They have to get the .pro registrar market share up from 7.5% to 75% and eligibility up from 13% to 100% by removing license restrictions and focusing on professional use. Then they have to market .pro and get the 1% of people who would consider switching up from 1% to 3%. That would increase the number of end users that can be actively sold to from 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 40.

If I was Lucas Roh at Hostway, I would offer Catherine Sigmar $10,000 for every 1% she increases .pro registrar market share by, $250,000 for getting rid of .pro license restrictions, and $1 for every extra .pro registered year on year. If you added that up, it would still be less than the RegistryPro losses he's funding every year.

Just registered today minisite.pro.

A lot of extensions are taken and developped.

I hope this one will do well.

Happy new year!

Holiday Greetings to all, with special wishes for Andrew. You are an inspiration. You have uniquely identified the heart of .PRO and proudly displayed it on your sleeve for all to relish. You mix words and numbers with exceptional flair. For this you are rewarded with challenges, debates, and at times, even the insults of lesser minds. Yet, I've never seen you back down from a fight. Finally, I've learned much from you this year. After all, you're must reading and probably the best damn columnist on the Board. So to you, Andrew, CHEERS! :)

Samit I like your new regs, Not sure of thegame.pro as feel it does not fit the extension IMHO, Under my understanding of the game (althought I have just lost it..) Do you have plans for it?

I agree with MJS, Andrew your discussions/analysis is enlightening, encouraging and always substantiated, fantastic.

I've just picked up 3dtv.pro while its looking like a while before we will have it properly with out stereoscopic glasses its taken in virtually ever other extension as such could not resist.

Not sure if any one is looking for more but here are a few I have come across in my searches and while not been tempted enough, to reg they may suit someone elses purposes.
Blend.Pro
Hike.Pro
Hikes.Pro
Walk.Pro
Hike.Pro
Strong.Pro (Which is taken in pretty much every other extension)
Trusts.pro

Merry Christmas and wishing you all the best of success for 2009

Thanks siga, I mostly reg by numbers or end user potential. Gaming is a huge industry. TheGame.Pro is just one notch lower than Game.Pro in my view. Here are the numbers:
169,000,000 for "the game" in google, with quotes.
PPC Ads # 17
Max PPC Bid $0.75
Overture/mo 236462
Wordtracker/day 13067

As for the others, I would have preferred lease and conference, but i'm afraid they might be slightly more than the $15 i paid for the plurals and the numbers are close enough to not pay a premium, at least from my investment perspective.

I quite like hike.pro but most of the names scream for development, i dont see any parking revenue on .pro, but maybe thats just me.
