It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

I just sent this out via Twitter. Great piece.

I just went to Encirca to register some .PRO and the price is now $29.99/yr D-:

It still shows the $14.99 promotion
Galel,
Thanks for the price update. However, according to Encirca's website, their new registration costs have merely been returned to recent $24.95 pre-sale price levels. Therefore, .PRO consumers will retain a meaningful choice between paying a slight premium for Encirca's experience, reliability and plenary services or registering with a more recent, albeit discounted, .PRO registrar-entrant.

Second, while I am a bit naive about Twitter itself, I appreciate the value of fair press for .PRO, particularly to the extent that the extension has suffered from sparse coverage. To this end, would you be so kind as to also further to Twitter the earlier article from the same blog that I referenced above on the heels of Andrew's link. The two articles, in tandem, offer an even broader .PROspective on the extension. Thank you in advance for your kind attention and assistance. Happy 2009!

I've submitted the required information for .pro's professional eligibility requirements when I registered names at Encirca.

Do I need to resubmit my professional information, if I register .pro names at domainpeople?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wish you all a happy and prosperous year ahead! :)

Yes, you will have to resubmit the informations with domainpeople.com.
You will receive an email with a link to follow to submit the informations. You have to do it only once.

walk.pro + Encirca + Appraisals Forum

I'd like to discuss several issues...
1. I grabbed walk.pro today which I like because it is a decent 4 letter
word.
It gets 308,000,000 hits on Google and we all do it everyday
but it also seems common and boring etc.
It does ok on Domainscore although walking.pro does better.
Am I just wasting my money grabbing these things?
2. Encirca's prices for Pro Registration just went up to $ 24.95
but Encirca is so easy to use and I like using them.
Do you know of any easy pro Registrar at lower prices?
3. I've asked for Appraisals for several what I consider to be good
.Pro Domains names in the "Domain Appraisals" forum and although there
are a good number of viewings I get 0 comments.
Anything I should know about regarding why many people read
the thread I've created about my .Pro Names but won't appraise?
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Don't get discouraged. To get appraisals you have to give appraisals, post information, news, and comments, or buy or sell domains. You've posted 9 times and 6 of those posts were asking for appraisals or opinions. There are more .pro appraisal requests on NamePros than .pro domainers so it's not easy to get a response.

Walk.co.uk sold for $13,051 so there is money in this keyword for the right buyer. Professional footware and accessories, bespoke footware, walking guides, and walking holidays would be a good fit for the name. It's short, memorable, and sounds good, probably not much value reseller yet so you would need to direct market it. I regged Trek.pro in late 2007 and I see somebody picked up Hike.pro in the last couple of days.

.pro works well with activity, hobby and sports keywords. I noticed Watersports.pro was available about 3-4 days ago and it went the next day. These type of .pro keyword are disappearing fast.

Was it a drop?

No, I bought it. I missed regging Yacht.pro by a couple of days in 2007. What I like about Yacht.pro is it combines an activity with a premium product and both types of keyword work very well with .pro.

MegaYachts.com sold for $150,000 in 2007. "Mega Yachts" has 0.4m Google uniques versus 38m for "Yacht". On Domainscore.com Yacht.pro scores 442 versus 386 for MegaYachts.com.

InsideDomaining reported on the sale of MegaYachts.com;

http://insidedomaining.blogspot.com/2007/06/best-buy-live-auction-megayachtscom.html

They said $150,000 was the brokerage fee on one mega yacht sale and congratulated the "sharp, smart, and aware big time domain investor" who snapped it up.

My view is mega yachts are also known as super yachts, luxury yachts, or just yachts. One brokerage fee on a mega yacht sale for Yacht.pro works out to 600,000 times my $250 investment and I'm getting a more aspirational and technical association between Yacht and Pro.

The commercial reality is Russian Oligarchs who spend $400m on yachts don't type in MegaYachts.com to find somebody to build it. I doubt they use Google either, but if they did, MegaYachts dot anything would rank just as well with professional SEO. In my opinion, MegaYachts.com sounds ostentatious and tacky whereas Yacht.pro is classy, understated, and more brandable.

Yeah, actually all of those are the same reasons I considered before i bought yatch.pro

Too bad my spelling is not up to spec

Well, chalk one down to a mistake.... though on second thought, maybe other people might make the same mistake ;)

when I saw you post yatch.pro in that other thread, I wondered if it was a word, or a typo here. I didn't expect it to be a registration typo.

is this the first typo .PRO? :)

I didn't expect it either ;)

Though I think this is more of a spelling error by me than a typo. :red:

I'm obviously not as fluent in the language as I assume I am. :D :D :D

That is promising information. Adding to that, I recently noticed that Google finally registered in the extension on 9-8-08, having declined previously so much as to file a defensive product. Though the site redirects to google.com, as is the case with several other gtlds, the registration reflects progress, nonetheless, and tends to highlight the impact, realized and going forward, of the recent .Pro contractual modifications.
