It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it. B-)

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Alexandria.pro

Anchorage.pro

Arlington.pro

Belfast.pro

Birmingham.pro

Budapest.pro

Durham.pro

Fairfax.pro

Italian.pro

Lisbon.pro

Fire away with your regs after the relaunch on September 8th, 2008.

PRO Domain Extension Will Weed Out Spam And Rank High In Google

If you have been in the Internet business as long as I have, then you know that domain extensions come and go without making a dent in the rankings of .com and .org websites. The .net extension has performed the best out of all the non dot com domains, but clearly not anywhere near a .com.
Enter the .pro domain extension. I havenโ€™t seen as much talk about it as I expected even though it has been out for months. I suppose that professionals online donโ€™t feel it will crack the dominance of traditional .comโ€™s. The fact is .pro will not only rank high, but has the potential to take rankings away from the vaunted .com domain extension.

Why You Shouldnโ€™t Ignore .PRO Domain Extensions

If you are a professional and have a brick and mortar business, you absolutely must grab your .pro domain. I was astonished to see how many important domains were still available. You must have a business license to keep your domain. If you donโ€™t provide them with a business license along with the licensing entity within 44 days you will loose the domain and they wonโ€™t refund the money. Since .pro domains are not available through wholesalers like godaddy, you will have to use Network Solutions or another registrar. You can get a list of .pro registrars here.

Need more publications like this!!
Not only blogs!!!
I'm fairly stoked over the article. Since 2004, when I first regged Golf.pro, I've maintained, for the record, that one day, under certain circumstances, .PRO would finally lay challenge to .Com's monopoly on the throne, and have invested accordingly. Today's article, appears on its face, to have been published by an otherwise disinterested, industry professional, in furtherance of the interests of his business clients. Nor does it read like a press release. Rather, its among the strongest expressions, released to date, tending to validate opinions and aspirations held by the strongest proponents of the extension. At the end of the day, the message resonates well, and portends favorably for the .PRO community.
GO .PRO!

Agreed. Unlike many other extensions, at least .PRO is seen as something that could challenge .COM in the future. Its an uphill battle but who knows what can happen 5 10 20 years down the road.

This guy is really going at it. Regging every possible combination of hyphens, abbreviations, and plurals. Moved from green energy to hybrid vehicles to tax credits.

IT I'm glad someone else is in it for the long run. Obviously we all want as much return as possible in the shortest amount of time. But I don't mind holding domains 5-10+ years (renewal fees are going to suck) if that's how long it takes. It would sure help me out with my first mortgage. =]

In my opinion if you want to make a real $$$ with .Pro - it will need a very long time for .Pro to become profitable.
Maybe in 30-40 years it will be have an excellent value.
Our grandchilds will say thank you to us:)

Hi Guru!!(privet)))
I am not agree with you and why:
1- to make xxx its possible now, not in 30-40 years
I already sold my 6 . pros for more then 30k and why I registered xxx pros.
2- in 30-40 years you have to forget about domain names! will be audio or mind command searching sistems)))
3-internet will be complitly different then now!!!))

.Pro domains its like beautiful sexy girl who are ready for submission and you have very easy access to her and you think something wrong with her!!!)
But very soon its will be change!!! no more good key word domains will be available and when will be born 1-2 big .pro projects endusers will change opinnion about .PRO

I will be (and I think all guys here) more than happy if you will be right.
Yes, your sales are excellent! But this is not mass sales. Unfortunately, there are not so many unique .Pro domains :)

At this stage any article talking about .PRO in positive light would be seen as promotional.

While it may be the case that not every portfolio is comprised of domains ripe for sale in this current market, many other portfolios, including mine, do contain ripened domains. My resales, for instance, have fallen considerably below previous levels. This despite recent efforts to apply more realistic pricing schemes to a greater number of my domains. Based on your recent success, what advice can you offer?

Thank you.

Good name! I just don't know if someone would ever say that she's from North America. Because that, I didn't register it, although it was on my own list for some time.

I couldn't resist and just registered some more names. Maybe I'm a complete idiot and simply burn my money, but as long as the registry fee is just 15 $, it doesn't hurt that much. In a year the renewal fee has either been lowered a lot, or I'll let some of these expire; don't know yet.

birth.pro (This was just because it's taken under so many TLDs)
alive.pro
lifetime.pro
survivor.pro
performer.pro
origin.pro
(I really don't know why I took this...)
pseudo.pro
anonym.pro
(German word for anonymous)
pseudonym.pro

Hmmh, maybe I'm addicted... :hehe:

Hi

Do not get addicted to investing..... :)

You will have problems next year same time when you will have to renew them. Sorry if I am wrong.

Thanks for the comments on northamerica.pro

Hope you are a new member and you require some more experience to buy and invest. I suggest you to go through the forum before you invest. While you at the verge of renewal you will realise the pain. Be careful before you invest. You contact a person whom you trust and get their suggestion before you buy. Do some sort of research about the potential of the domain name then go ahead and purchase.

All the Best,

sundari.

I appreciate your feedback.

Here's what I look for in searching for good domains:

1. Objective: Popular, generic, descriptive keywords or phrases

2. I look at the Google avg. monthly search results for each of these listed words as a phrase:

"theaters" 4090000
"riding" 3350000
"shave" 823000
"muffler" 673000
"rowing" 550000
"shutter" 550000
"putt" 450000
"luau" 368000
"putter" 368000
"kava" 135000
"caterer" 110000
"kyak" 33100

There is excellent search activity on most of these words.

3. How many of these domains represents subject matter that has commercial value as a product, service or source of information, and is there a way for my company to capitalize through affiliate promotions, banner ads, forums, drop shipping or partnering with major players?

THEATERS:
Many possibilities for theater added value, directory site for theaters that offer tickets, schedules, times, & reviews. Plus lots of products associated with theaters from programs, to DVD's to Audio and regular promotional items.

SHAVE
1000's of shaving razors (electric and non-electric) shaving accessories and shaving foams and lotions. Incredibly huge market.

MUFFLER:
Could launch a directory for Muffler shops offering best buys, discounts and cutomer feeback by zip. Ads, banners and affiliate programs for referral.

ROWING KYAK
Two major sports. On water or fixed in place for training. Plenty of products, accessories, competition and training that generates millions of dollars annually. A website could get right in the middle of that!

SHUTTER
Could apply to several different industries: window shutter, storm shutter, camera shorter, all with their own unique marketing programs that affords site owners the opportunity to participate in these industries.

PUTT
PUTTER

Over the years, my father has spent thousands of dollars on golf glubs, accessories, clothes, books, DVD's and especally products, tools and promotions that promise a better putting game for the serious student of the craft. Billion dollar industry.

KAVA
Great name for a health food or herb shop. Or great domain for a page that distributes KAVA products. Plenty of opportunity here.

LUAU
What better website for party goods and accessories. Or a party/event planner. What about a site to promote the art and dance of traditional Hawaiian Luau? This could include schedules, events, lessons and referrals to Hawaii resort hotels.

CATERER
I think this one is simple. Either a directory to promote caterers and catering comapnies or a site on how to get into the business and what to expect.

Of course, any of these domains would be a perfect choice for just one company that offered these products or services to the public. And the TLD PRO makes them sound all the more expert and credible.

Having provided my thoughts and strategy for having purchased these domains, I'd appreciate your feedback on what you believe I am missing or overlooked and what I might do differently when acquiring more PRO domain names.

Additionally, it would help me to see your examples of good names, and perhaps you could post a dozen or so domains that you believe are representative of the best opportunities for domainers and the reasons why.

Thank you.
