It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it.

I wonder if this is only encirca registrations or all .pro registrations. Either way it's a good sign of things to come.

I think that's total registrations so presumably there are 13,000-15,000 registered now. I was hoping for 100,000. .pro still needs to be alot more competitive on price and get sold by bigger registrars. The deal announced with Melbourne IT doesn't seem to have materialised, there .is still no .pro on their domain panel. If .pro was promoted by Godaddy, it could get to 100,000 registrations easily.

i don't think so, encirca isn't privy to other registrars numbers and this article seems to only speak to encirca numbers. i would be shocked if total regs are only in the 15K range!

I'd be shocked if there are more than 15k .pro registered.

Have asked jmcc to try and run a zone file scan, we'll know soon enough.

I'm sorry to say that even the price reduction didn't boost the regs much... there are a ton of premiums available even now.

.PRO registration

Hi!

Does .PRO registry have reserved names or not? (which are free according whois database, but it's immposible to register them)

Asking this question because tryed to register domain in .PRO via "domainpeople.com", but it was not registered yet.... (7letters domain name)

Yes, they have a very large list of reserved names. You can them listed in their latest monthly report (Have to scroll down a bit), however the latest info they show is for June (Some contratual reasoning).

Their latest report (which shows June Numbers as their latest) shows them at 8k or so names with Encirca holding the bulk.

If Encirca doubled and then you add in NetSol, I'd say they might be at 15-20k or so.

thanks for your reply. I checked this list that you provided, but as I understand correctly all RESERVED domains are registered by RegistryPro (very big squatter :tu: )
and in my case - I'm trying to register .pro domain and it available via Whois and via checking it at .pro registrars. I tryed register .pro domain via three PRO registrars - and in all cases the same sitation - domain orders were successfull, reg fees for domain charged from my card, but domain did NOT register... it still available :tu:

So it's confused me a little bit :td:

Mod, please can you separate out the original .pro threads, you've made things really confusing. They were on different .pro topics, one was for new registrations, one was on an Encirca press release about total .pros registered in the first month of relaunch.
