It seems .PRO is slowly coming out of the cage with cheaper reg prices than they were a year ago and major registrars like netsol taking notice of the extension and promoting it.

Here are some that I picked up in last couple of days:

Andy, I would remove the under construction note. I've started work on http://golfclub.pro - has info on 16k golf courses in USA, listed by state... still needs some work done though, like theme change.

Check my top million site analysis again. Later I will post a results from an old 100,000 top US websites, compare the amount of .com vs .us. DEFACTO .com is the cctld of the US, any attempts on the contrary, means that person has a biased opinion, probably spending hundreds of dollars on that specific tld. Im not against .us, hell I love it right now, FREE TASTING, to use up my dynadot credits, but to say that .US is the defacto cctld of US is just plain ridiculous!

Will check .pro, it will be miniscule as usual IMO. Why dont you guys all jump on .TRAVEL, last time I checked it had more top mill alexa sites then .PRO! :lol:

Brad, that doesnt make any sense.
The US$ is seen as the currency of the US. Have you seen its performance during the last few years??? (not getting into economics, just using it as an example with your statement).

Anyhow... It seems that the thread is getting heated up, and some facts are being lost.
To the rest of the World, .com is seen as much as their TLD as anyone elses. And to back this up, is the fact, that this IS a fact. It is a GLOBAL TLD.
Again, I must stress that I am talking on a World Wide basis here.
.com and .pro are Global TLDs, while .com.au and .us are Country Code TLDs, regardless of the success of the first, and the relative failure of the latter for now. I believe that .us will pick up, but that is just my opinion.

I'm soft launching www.Geeks.pro, looking for feekback. I still need to put up prices and get a little more verbage up, but the site itself is pretty much ready to go. I just had multiple interviews for the same company though, so if I get a job I may have to back-burner this.

The job is the same industry, Technical Helpdesk for a fortune 500. The nice thing is with a job you get full benefits, don't have to worry about payroll and taxes and can concentrate on what you do best.

The nice thing about having your own business is that you are your own boss and don't have to answer to anyone but yourself.

Cause its the best available tool to measure traffic. Might not be the best, but I guarantee you its pretty solid for top 100,000 if not the top million (which is variable).

Best available tool? The one that you wouldn't install on your PC? According to Alexa, you and I don't exist as web users because we don't have their spyware infested toolbar installed.

It is just a tool... something like when you need a hammer but you can't find one and you end up using a rock instead. Its that kind of tool.

I'd qualify that - US Traffic.

Consider that 70% of web traffic now resides outside the US, don't see it a perfect barometer, more like an additional tool.

It is quite accurate for the top 10k, beyond that is anybody's guess.

you definitely seem to be come on as narrow minded and biased.
.US IS the ccTLD of the US. Again, that is a fact. cc=country code. I dont believe anyone said anything about more people/companies in the US using .us more than .com. .com is NOT a country code (!)
The simple fact is .us is a country code, and it stands for US.
.com is a global TLD, and of course more companies use it than .us
I own more than 3000 domains, and the vast majority are .com, so if anything I have a vested interest in .com

The reason I jumped in here (other than following this thread from the beginning), is because I was trying to point out the difference between ccTLDs and gTLDs like .PRO

Trust me I have no vested interested in .com except for an expensive LLL and some random keyword domains. Over 90% of my traffic is from cctlds. Of course .US is the "official" cctld of the US, I am saying the "de facto" is .com and .us cant help but get a minute slice of the pie.

I just picked up Lacrosse.pro and the two-word SmallBusiness.pro. I also lost my third dot pro lottery to a member here who has all the luck or can rig major lottery drawings. You know who you are.

Good finds! Sports keywords fit .pro nicely and smallbusiness.pro would make a great tips/guide website on small business related topics.

3rd party dns (not registrar, not webhost) might be a good idea during domain registrar changes or website server changes.
