Does anyone know how long it takes to receive the verification request from RegistryPro after you renew domains? They've sent an email for verification listing no domains in it for about a month but have sent no request for verification for the domains I renewed this week. Thanks.

For sake of argument, consider a learned society. The society each year elects a president and it has by-laws and rules which the members comply with or face internal sanction. Governments have no control over the society unless it or its members break national or international law. Some such institutions have a royal charter from a monarch in history, some develop their own charter establishing their aims and rules. Over time they are established and obviously become recognised as a centre of knowledge or excellence in their discipline. But again they are solely an independant entity, acting in society, not controlled by government bodies except in paying their taxes or obeying laws as above. Their ability to issue licenses and confer membership is at the discretion of the existing membership and the societys rules, not the governments who have no control over who becomes a member and or a licensed practitioner.

I am describing something similar to the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) who I use for my professional affiliation.

I am obviously not comparing MIQW to the ICE that would be a gross distortion. I am implying that maybe (just maybe) a 'learned society' can be established at any time or place, It is recognised by its membership and has rules. Its members could benefit from the society or institution and become professionals by affiliation to it.

I am leading up to a domain I own, Chartered.pro, this could form a basis for a society as described. In the meantime I am going to try out MIQW.com as a development and see where it may lead.

Starting a professional body or association is one thing but until it gets recognised by a government body, any license number it issues isn't worth the paper it is written on for the purposes of registering a .pro.

Every council in the UK is a "jurisdictional licensing entity". You could have a betting licence, taxi licence, sex shop license, liquor licence, or pet shop licence. There are 100's of acts passed by parliament which say that somebody needs a Council issued license to do something.

If I wasn't a Chartered Accountant, I'd visit my local Council web site, search for licences and find something I could register to do. This isn't my council but this is how I would do it;

You'd look down the list, maybe like the look of the Scrap Metal licence, ring the number, tell them you wanted to collect scrap door to door, fill in the form, and get a licence number. Technically, you would never have to collect a single tin can but on your RegistryPro AV you put down "Scrap Merchant" as your profession, the council web site as your issuing body, and your licence number.

Anybody signing up with MIQW.com and using any licence number issued for .pro AV checks is likely to lose their .pro. It would take years to build up enough credibility and members to get government approved. The "government licensing entity" or Council is a much safer route if you are stuck for something to write on your AV check.

My domains are not renewed yet. I received the following email from Encirca, and completed the form. But later I received no new information.
