Hello.

In view of the recent success of .ORG domain sales, I thought it would be appropriate to discuss the value of the .org extension.

1. Share Recent .ORG Sales

2. Share Your BEST .ORG domains

3. Share Your Opinion on .ORG

---------- Post added at 04:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:39 AM ----------

Here are some other notable .org sales:

Engineering.org - $198,000
Date.org - sold for $150,000
Attorney.org - $38,500 sold @ SEDO on 9/25/2009
Hockey.org - $22,500 sold @ Moniker Traffic on 11/27/2009
HomeLoans.org - $37,000 sold @Private Sale on 08/19/2009

What's your best .ORG?

Good luck. That is impressive at that weight. I did my first meet ever a couple years back just to say I did, but I only did 1250 and I weighed 275. My bench has always held me back because of a shoulder problem, but I think I finally have that resolved and have been hitting it pretty hard again. Going for 600+ on my squat and DL this month and hope to finally break 300 on my bench without the shoulder issues.

To stay somewhat on topic, .org is a great place for people to still make decent money without spending a lot up front. They account for between 15-20 percent of my portfolio on average, but close to 40% of my sales. I've done well with llll.org's one worders and .org's related to religion - most sales in the mid to high XXX range and acquisitions all under $20.

A few I am holding now:
ChristianFamilyChurch.org
FirearmSafety.org
GreenStocks.org
GreenWeek.org
Artisanal.org

Haha it is so strange finding someone on here that also competes. I haven't been competing long but do enjoy it. Still good numbers for you by any means. Shoulder joints are very complex but as coaching and rehab is my full time profession I have been fortunate enough to meet with professionals and learn from their mistakes.

40% of your sales? That is interesting. Have you been specifically targeting end-users or purely via auction sites? I have only acquired one as I am still reserved on forever building my portfolio further until I find the right domains to buy/sell. I admit I have only been getting into domaining the past few months so still trying to learn the current market trends

My model is mostly passive sales, I rarely contact end users as I find it cuts the return in half when I have to go to them. I select most of my domains based on what I would like to develop at some point (and somehow never get around to). Sedo, GoDaddy and direct contact from the whois are generally how I sell names. Most are set with a buy-now price at Sedo and GD, I just don't like haggling if I can avoid it.

I will also reduce my portfolio pretty heavily every couple years and dump some on eBay and the forums. I try to stay around 350 names, but usually end up at 500+ before I trim it back. It is a hobby for me, but one that supports itself and manages a profit every year since I started back in 2000. I've started getting a little more serious lately and putting more of my sales back into spending a bit more for better domains in auctions and forums.

Makes perfect sense and I appreciate the input. It is something I dive in and out of depending on time but make sure to put aside time each day to learning and increasing chances of sales etc. I've noticed that this thread most recently up until now has just been people posting their domains and not actually talking about the market so every little helps!

Is it better to have bido.org or bidointernational.com? Many nonprofits I noticed stick with .org but some go with .com.

Also, do we offer discounts on .org if it is a nonprofit?

Officially been over a year since the most recent previous post. :xf.grin:

Personally, I got no complaints. No great successes though, either. Maybe that should be considered a complaint then.

.Org is tricky to understand if I'm not mistaken...

In my early stages of domaining, I thought I hit a winner. SexyDress.org - now that I've think of it, it's not the most viable name for organization.

This is a nice sale, Dash.org - $20,000

http://dnpric.es/?dn=dash.org

Dash.org is a private cryptocurrency. Looks interesting and glad to see a nice sale and development on a .ORG domain.

I kinda like single keyword org... but try to keep away cause I do not think they are too valuable.. I own a couple of old orgs only:

compilation.org
humidifiers.org

humidifiers.com was a 100k sale couple years ago.. but again, I do not expect much from my org.

still, I'll hold on to them for long long while if necessary. as I only have 2.

I love .org

Sold jaipur.org (over 5-7 years ago) for $3K (bargain for the buyer)
Also poutine.org (last year or so) for bargain #xxxx price too

Have several others, developped and not, some of my best on market are French ones (single word dictionary domains):

faillites (bankruptcies.org )
dettes (debts.org)

and one nice EMD high CPC one in English:

onlinepharmacies
