I think I started the first BQB.com auction ever. I'm not sure but it looks like it's up and running.

I'll make a banner ad for it and put it in the rotation at the very top.

When I find the time, I'm going to make a detailed FAQ/Help section like is found on eBay which will hopefully make everything about BQB easier to use and understand.

Thanks Ross! :tu:

Any success BQB does have is largely thanks to all the wonderful members of Namepros who've been ever so helpful since March in providing suggestions, offering support, and helping out in any way they could.

From helping with banner designs to offering free advertising on their sites, to referring other domainers and blogging about BQB, I really have to thank everyone for their help in making BQB better for all of us :hearts:

I sold Dato.com on Sedo yesterday for $9000 -- I just paid the equivalent of 1 month's server fees on BQB just for using Sedo to sell Dato. I know selling on Sedo was the right choice for a name like Dato at that time, but I hope one day BQB will be an alternative for the more expensive names, much as it already is for 5L.coms, LLLL.nets, and LLLL.infos which greatly benefit from BQB not requiring a minimum bid of $60.

It's all looking good Reece!

But wait... oh no, another suggestions from me, sorry! :red:

In the members area under bidding I find it very hard to determine what auctions I am winning... Is there anyway you can have the auctions you are winning highlighted in green and the ones you are not highlighted in red? It would certainly make it easier to see which ones you need to bid on... At the moment you have to compare your 'proxy bid' with the 'max bid' and its quite easy to overlook an auction that you would otherwise bid on...

Also it would be great if on that same page it displayed 'time remaining'... Its difficult to form an attahcment with a name you are eager to bid on if a) you cant easily determine if you are winning or not and b) when its actually going to end because you can't easily plan furture tactical bids...

Hi Rich,

In the members area ( http://www.bqb.com/bidding,page,current_bids,section,members_area ), your bid is listed as Active if it's currently winning and Inactive if it's not (in the Status column).

The developer is working on a "time remaining" implementation for me and we should have a solution in place come June.

Oh I see... I didn't get that at all, I don't think its particularly self explanitory or user friendly... Maybe it should say 'Highest Bidder' and 'Outbid' or something more obvious?...

The time remaining will be excellent though! :tu:

Yes, time remaining will be a much needed addition. :tu:

Samir (dmi) designed a lovely BQB Recent Sales banner which is now in rotation at the top of every page. This will hopefully make it easier for everyone to access sales data.

Will look into getting titles changed -- agree they aren't the most obvious with active/inactive.

I've received a couple emails asking that short .co.uk, as well as .mobi be allowed on BQB.

What does everyone think about going with VURG's suggestion that every short domain category which is sold out be allowed?

Good suggestion. At least you will be expecting "Supply" & "Demand"

Allowing .mobi (NNN & LLL) is not a bad idea.

It's a great idea, i think you should definatley do it due to nearly all sold out ones have reg fee + Value...

Hmmm, I don't see how it could hurt right? +1 from me too :tu:

Thanks for the advice guys :tu:

Added an "Other Extensions" section which allows for the listing of 1 Character, 2 Character, LLL, and NNN domains in any extension.

Also added a moderated "1 Word Generics" section for top domains in the .ca, .co.uk, .com, .de, .eu, .info, .mobi, .net, .org, and .us extensions.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've decided to make BQB permanently free for everyone. Permanently.

Hopefully the added cost features on BQB will one day pay for the costs of running it, but at least the next time I sell a $9000 domain like dato, I'll get consolation that I won't have to pay anyone $900 commission :)

WOW! That is great news Reece :kickass:

I think you are headed in the right direction with this move.. I really think you have a good thing going here.

Thanks mate :)

It was needed imho if BQB is ever going to have a chance at stealing alot of business from the big guys. This also allows me to be more careful with who I allow on BQB -- it's obviously more tempting to approve people when there's money in it for you and more people will be willing to give it a try if it costs them nothing to do so.

Hey Reece,

There seems to be some issues with the 'current bids' section of the members area. I had been bidding on 4 names but noticed yesterday that only two were showing up... I thought maybe (a bit like ebay) the seller had cancelled the auction and that is why they weren't appearing...

Anyway, I was going through the domains for sale list today and noticed that both of the auctions that had 'disappeared' from my list were still running. It seems that as soon as you are outbid the auction is removed from your bidding list in the members area?...

Anyone else had this issue? :gl:

I've bid on one of the names again to try it out and its now back on the 'current bids' list... The 'active' 'inactive' status doesn't seem to be working.... :-/

Rich :)

Thanks for reporting the bug Rich :)

I'm bidding on 2 domains currently (1 active, 1 inactive) and they're both showing up in my member's area. I haven't been flooded with emails yet, but hopefully it isn't affecting too many people -- will see if I can get to the bottom of it.
