I think I started the first BQB.com auction ever. I'm not sure but it looks like it's up and running.

Definitely Tristan :)

Zems pointed out to me by pm that I was missing at least 1 country (Serbia), so I'm going to have to go over the countries list as well and make sure I'm not missing any others.

Ah yes, that's another suggestion I'd wish to make - "Date of birth", to me, signals dd/mm/yyyy (mm/dd/yyyy, etc). It taken me 5 minutes to realise I just had to put the year. Maybe it'd help to specify this on the registration form? :)

Portugal was in :), and yes, I suggest you ask the developers to forget UK is the center of the World :D

Default Country UK
Date Format - UK format

I'll be listing some crap later on. :p

Thanks Bruno :)

I'm lucky I used to work as a WM... So much to modify (being fair to the developer, the script wasn't initially intended for running domain name auctions!).

I'm having a problem with logging in.
I can go to the site, directly through my browser and enter my username and password, then click "Log in" and it refreshes and I'm logged in.
I click a category, such as ".net's" and then I'm logged out again, I've had to constantly log in :(

It's not a problem at my end, i don't think, as I have cookies enabled and all other sites that work the same was as BQB (Logging in) work perfectly.

So yeah, it logs me out :(

BQB seems to not be working with either Firefox or certain versions of Firefox. Will test it out tonight and try to get to the bottom of this. Just had a chat with Sam and it works fine on his computer with Internet Explorer. I'm aware of some problems currently with OSX (Safari) as well.

Listed a N-L.net. Didn't know where to put it. Also not sure where to list my C--C.com domains.

Just registered right now. No FireFox problems over here.

Thanks mate :) It must be certain only certain releases... I'll have to try it a bit more and see if I can figure out why a couple members are having trouble (no problems reported with IE so far).

Hi Phil, the .net is fine in the .net section for now and the .com in the "Other Short.coms" section. I'll make a few more sections for some of the other categories later today (I can move any auctions started before then to the appropriate sections at that time).

Right, there is definatley a problem because I've managed to do it again.

1. Go to http://bqb.com
2. Enter details into the side box and click log in.
3. On the next page click ".net's(15)" on left.
4. Now logged out again.

So on the .net's page i show as logged out - i can log in again from there and it's fine, but the .net's page seems to log me out.

Windows XP SP2.
Firefox 3.05b

Heh, made a sale :)
xsam.net for $3.25 - a lot less than i hoped for, oh well :)

What's the procedure for once a domain has been sold? :)

Hi Sam,

There's a built in message board for discussing payment arrangements with your buyer that can be found here: http://www.bqb.com/bidding,page,won_items,section,members_area . If you've added your Paypal/Moneybookers info to BQB, you should be able to pay directly from that page, provided your Paypal/Moneybookers account is funded (or setup to fund from your credit card or bank account).

Hey Reece,

Great work with the site! I have a few minor austhetic and user friendly suggestions... Here goes:

1. Why is an auctions current bid called the 'Max. Bid'? I don't get it - a little confusing at first, or have I missed something? It doesn't make sence to me...

2. Listing Title - Is there anyway to limit the auction title? I would rather look through a list of auctions in the same way you do on Sedo - just the name 'no bullshit' ;) I think something should be in place to stop people posting an auction with the title 'The greatest domain in the world, aka the one and only XXXX--->>>>LLLL.com<<<<---XXXX etc :) It would make browsing lists a whole lot easier. Also making the 'Item Title' column wider would help.

3. Listing Title (in auction) - I think this needs to be bigger and bolder. I clicked on one auction and had trouble finding what domain I had clicked on! I think the auction title (i.e.: the domain) should be more prominent on the actual listing page... its a bit tucked away at the top.

4. Registrar and Expiration date - should be compulsary? Just a thought... maybe not such a great one but I would prefer to see this on every auction.

5. 'Next Step', 'Previous Step' buttons - When creating an auction these are reversed... The 'next step' button should be on the right because thats its natural place because you are moving forward. This is a user friendly type suggestion - a little like the back/forward buttons in IE - imagine if they were the wrong way round!

6. Alt tags on images -i.e.: in an auction under 'seller information' there is a 'me' icon and a 'shop' icon - these should have alt tags - one thing I do before clicking on a button that I dont know what it does is hover over to get an idea of what it does do from the alt tag...'

A few suggestions which I hope are constructive! :)

Love the site and hope everything works out! I'm sure it will...

And to all those that don't think the UK is the centre of the world! Think again! B-) It was nice to register on a site that has UK at the top of the list!! A first! lol :p

Hi Rich,

Thanks for the suggestions!

1. I'll look into getting Max Bid changed to "Current Bid" -- seems like a more appropriate title.

2. I noticed that too and I'm at fault here for starting it off listing "no reserve" after a few of my domain auctions. I'll post it on BQB in the news section as a "best practice" suggestion for now and make it a requirement on June 06, 2008, complying with the 30 day advanced notice policy I've made for major modifications on BQB.

3. Will look into what can be done to fix that.

4. I can make it mandatory through the coding that the fields contain text but I can't really control what people put in them (incorrect registrars or expiration dates aren't things the software can check for). Nobody is doing themselves anything but a great disservice by excluding this info (unless their registrar is EuroDNS or NetSol, in which case I'd want to pretend I didn't know where it was registered either! :guilty: ).

BQB has alot of "hidden" features, like Abuse Reports which I'm definitely going to have to elaborate on in a much more in depth Help section in the near future, which may be able to assist in enforcing such a rule.

5. Changed.

6. Great suggestion Rich, will look into getting that added.

Rep added. :)
