I think I started the first BQB.com auction ever. I'm not sure but it looks like it's up and running.

Reece is da man. This is his baby.

I've been looking forward to this ever since he started talking about it. Looks good so far.

Reece - No L-L-L.com category? No 1 Day Auctions?

You must be at least 18 years old to register.

What's the $99 fee for when you register?

My only concerns are that you are not allowed to sell .nets, .orgs, other TLD's, L-L, L-L-L, L-LL.coms, N-NN.coms, CCCC.coms. Or, do they fall in the generics category?

$99 Ouch, a bit high for a start up site with little traffic (I assume). But I'm sure that I'll get around to signing up sooner of later.

Aw a thread for BQB... :hearts:

BQB could definitely use some suggestions still (like including L-L-L).

There was a huge problem on DNF involving a 16 year old domainer earlier this year on DNF. I'm not familiar with all the laws surrounding internet commerce, but it was brought to everyone's attention that persons under 18 years of age can't be held accountable for their actions. I can certainly look into allowing members under 18 with the permission of their parents (I believe this is how Afternic currently operates).

There won't be any membership fee for the first few months (it will be by application only at first). I'm primarily concerned with making BQB a safe trading environment when starting out and emphasis will be placed on security, not finances.
BQB will be accepting applications beginning near the end of May. Anyone is welcome to pm me if they're interested in BQB before then to be kept up to date on progress or even get the username they want.

I'm primarily focussed on ensuring that what gets listed gets sold. BQB is being designed (it's absolutely still a work in progress and any suggestions will definitely be considered) to maximize the likelihood of selling your domain. The best way for me to accomplish this is to make the categories based on what sells best. I like the suggestion of an L-L-L category, as I do an L-L, L-LL/LL-L, N-NN/NN-N. I won't be allowing other tlds than dotcom unfortunately -- that much has been decided. Dotcoms represent about 85-90% of all sales dollars, so I don't see this as a major inconvenience for most people, but it'll drastically cut down on both server and maintenance/admin costs. Less choice also means a higher likelihood that what's listed will sell.

Yeah, too sad you won't at least allow .net's, at least LL.net, LLL.net and LLLL.net
I believe that would really improve the site and make it more attractive and liquid without being spammy. :)

That would be great as a lot of us like buying and selling these types of domains as well. Also, just wanted to say that I really like how each type of domain has it's own category as this makes it really easy to zero in on what your for.

PS I'll be adding links to your site on a couple of my sites today.

Yo,
Nice site and all, but i have a problem with the 18 year old registration limit.
I am under 18 and i like to believe i am mature enough to be able to be a member of a site, such as yours.

I think, as you're doing "Approval only" for the first few months, surely namepros members with good Trader rating should be trusted and allowed to join, even if they are infact under 18?

Why not have a system whereby, under 18's can be members and use the site, however all the domains they sell HAVE TO BE manually approved?

I think it's cutting out a big chunk of potential members by saying no to under 18's. :/

You should PM Reece about this. He is the creator and he says what goes and what does not. Good Luck!

Thanks mate! :)

I'm trying to differentiate BQB from what's already on the market. Opening it up strictly to short domains and using all the extra space to break down the categories will hopefully make things easier to find.

I know the pain of looking for a cheap CVCV on Sedo, when there's no "find all CVCV" link.

The one thing I'm worried about with .net is where to say no. If I say yes to .net, soon someone will want .org, .info, etc. We can always look into adding it in the future, but at present I think opening up to LLLL.nets is a bit early considering most of them (other than quad + pronounceables) struggle to see sales above regfee for the most part.

I don't really have a problem allowing 2-3 letter .nets, but I fear it may cause more trouble than sales (eg. why is my 3 character [or 4 letter or 4 number] .net not allowed).

Hi Sam,

Your positive feedback record on Namepros speaks for itself. :)

I can definitely look into changing the Terms to 18 years of age unless you have exceptional references or trader rating. The main purpose of the age requirement isn't to discriminate against younger members but to ensure everyone is accountable for their actions and can conduct business as safely as possible on BQB.

I understand your point Reece, still I have a suggestion...

Why don't you accept all the categories that have been SOLD OUT?

I mean LLL and LL.net's are sold out.

You also include quad premium LLLL.nets if you will and CVCV and VCVC...

That's a good suggestion Bruno :)

I'm still a bit hesitant... Some of the sold out categories still don't sell very well (eg. .biz) and may have only sold out in the first place because a few large domainers came in and bought everything out.

I'd love to hear some other opinions on this. Anyone's welcome to send me a pm with suggestions as well. :)

To clarify a question asked by pm earlier, it will be an entire year of free membership for anyone that signs up over the next few months, but I'm manually approving each person. Choosing the same username for BQB as you go by on Namepros and sending me a pm indicating you've done such will make it much easier to approve people.

I'm interested in getting in BTW. I don't care about the $99 fee tbh :)

.biz? Well, :imho: 1 of the problems with those markets is the low liquidity.

I have 1 .info site that pays those $99 every month. :)
