I am posting this in the .tv section because basically all of the developed .tv's would be video-related,
and there hasn't been much action in here lately so...

When you develop a video site, and you want members to be able to upload their own videos do you go with a site/software that will enable Users to upload straight from YouTube, or only from their computer?

I am asking this because I just learned that a site I am trying to get started is a site that does not allow YouTube embedding. I guess you have to take that YouTube video to another site to do something with it that willl allow you to bring that YouTube video to your computer.

I am not sure if I like that, considering If "I" am getting frustrated with the lack of ease adding video's then wouldn't my Users feel the same way?

AND with the tons of YouTube Videos out there, It really wouldn't take long to create a pretty full established looking video/tv site, so I would think that would be a no-brainer...???

I would just like to hear any opinions/thoughts on what you would rather do, or what you have already done. I am trying to weigh the Pros and Cons here.

Thanks!

My fist thoughts is that it is better to start off with a free and easy solution like YouTube, gain some traction and feedback and when the site is getting to a place where you feel it is worth investing money in a more proper solution then it would be time to look. I assume you will be able to grab youtube code and manually upload the videos.

i have a fair few tv domains and i do support the dot tv ect..but i do tend to keep away from most dot tv sites as i find there mostly full of you tube clips.
if you have no original content why bother

Wow,
So back to square 1...lol

2 different NP .tv Pros who I have looked up to on countless threads here,
and both with opposing views on YouTube embedding and/or not.

I agree with you Qoof on filling a site with content from "free" and easy YouTube content,
but Huulswingerscom makes a great point too, on - Why bother, If we dont have our site filled with original content?

I guess the question is, If members join your site will they have enough original content within their own computer? and if so, will they be able to upload their video's easily???

This is a tough question for me as I am just starting to create my first real video-tv upload site.

Thanks for your comments Qoof, and Hullswingerscom.

Any more thoughts?

Heres what im thinking, at given time youtube has over 5million videos. The only way to really know what is amongs all those vidoes is for human eye balls to make contact with them and make a determination on its carogrolizational importance, theres never gonna be a turn key application or software that can really tell you what a video is or about..

So my scence of whats happen is; i see that there is a human video filtering market that dotTV can capilize on.. and im doing it!

its like this ladies and gentlemen; come on dont you hate wasting 3 minities of your life your never gonna get back..on a crapy non pertent video ..

youtube is a programming directors mecca, and employed wise can produce true revune streams and results.

Excellent Comment Benzdorf.
5 million plus videos, hmmm...Yeah, we will nwever see a fraction of them all.
That makes complete sense...You have just made me lean towards needing/wanting a YouTube easily embedded video site, with that comment!

Thanx.

for example i have a vet tech aned animal entusist, searching youtube for the best animal and pets content, they arrange there 3 hours loops in any fashion they wish; animalZ.tv... making them in a scence an artist so to speake..

I have an automoblie enthusist filter automobile content and it gets droped on autotopia.tv

and a hunting freak searches the all mighty youtube for kentuckyrifle.tv and so on and so fourth.

I truley belive there is a human video filtering market emerging and youtube is a huge video data base.

note however your programe dirctors need to know aLiL about copy right issues and stuff like that but in the end..

its all about videos filtered by humanZ !:gl:

i cut and pastededed this its not me>>

Here are a bunch of interesting statistics which I have
compiled from various sites over the past few months.
Since some of these numbers date from the last year,
they're not necessarily the most current or up-to-date
(thus I've made a couple of "calculated" adjustments):

Total number of YouTube videos -- over 120,000,000

Number of videos uploaded per day -- about 200,000

Time required to see all the videos -- over 600 years

Number of videos watched daily -- over 200,000,000

Amount of content uploaded every minute -- 13 hours

Number of accounts on YouTube -- over 300,000,000

Percentage of videos violating copyright -- over 12%

The top categories of uploaded videos -- music 20%,
entertainment 15%, people/blogs 14%, comedy 13%
sports 7%, educational 6%, automotive 5%, film 5%

The source of videos -- amateur 80%, professional
(meaning "partners") 15%, commercial/corporate 5%

Top countries uploading videos -- United States 35%,
United Kingdom 7%, Philippines 4%, all of the these
countries have around 3%: Australia, Brazil, Canada,
France, Germany, Mexico, Spain, Turkey

Amount of bandwidth used -- about the same as for
the entire internet in the year 2000

The most visited popular sites on the entire internet
-- #1 Yahoo, #2 Google, #3 YouTube

HERE ARE TWO WILD THINGS I'VE DISCOVERED:

YouTube video with the longest "run-time" -- 4:36:03
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ct8nZ6eTTโ€ฆ

YouTube video with the most thumbs -- over 12,000
