The Next Big Trend

Blogs Blooks Vlogs Zunes and Wiis seemed to dominate the past 9 months as the BIG products/ideas that kind of took hold of domainers... anyone have an idea of what the "next big thing" might be? (i didn't capitalize on any of those )

Very few "capitalised" on these fads, many wasted money. If you actually saw how many people registered names relating to these topics, and how many have actually sold them, you will see a huge huge difference. If you want, I got some wii and blook names you can have for $15 a pop...

Only the very best names in these fads have a genuine end-user market, and far more are registered for the reseller market, but this frenzy soon dies down. My advice would be to be very careful when you do find something like this, and in my experience, by the time its posted anywhere on this type of forum, you are already too late.

Seriously, this business is pretty fickle.

What happened to the 360 craze, for example?

You buy ahead of the trend and you get attacked and rediculed from domaineers that don't share the same speculation. You don't buy ahead of the trend and wait for it to be a sure thing and you can't GET any valuable domains.

Not rich but I have 2 sites ( PR6 & PR5) which are nice to feed a bit of PR to other sites and pay their reg fees from clicks. I will beat them till the traffic dies and then move on to something else.

There seem to be about a dozen or so sites which seem to be doing quite well -- the top ranked at Top Zune Sites is running around 200K page views/week right now.

Well, there are few things that are under works, that could become next big trends. Only time can tell. I know two of them, but remember, most of them are code named and the names will change just before release. Not everyone is dumb like MS, sometimes

Something like "The Next Big Trend" is quite hard to analyze, the public can be very odd at times and go against any logical predictions

in my opinion the next big thing will probably be somewhere in the scientific field

"The Next Big Trend" ... more like The Next Big Fad. Domains sell too slowly to follow trends or fads. A few lucky or quick prosper, but most won't.

The successful route will be to stay generic. They may not have the high initial value, but they grow steadily and don't die like the fads do.
