A good source tells me that at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Yahoo! chief Terry Semel is expected to talk about the company's plans for original online video programming. Semel is expected to promote (and maybe roll-out) Yahoo!'s new online reality show "Wow House".
""Wow House," in the home makeover show mold, it follows two families as they renovate and upgrade their home electronics. Each household is given $10,000 with which to purchase new theater systems and the like, but only one family can keep the new equipment. Viewers will vote on which home gets to retain the merchandise."
The key here is Yahoo producing a broadcast quality, original, TV program for the web and having their VP roll-it-out at a trade show. This is rare... in content, format, and style for a web giant. It may just be the shape of things to come Yahoo, Google, MSN (which already owns broadcast media properties) as interactive online TV Networks?!?
