Hello, I think it would be pretty useful to keep track of all LLLL.com sales , even the little ones under $100 so that , pretty soon , when the available LLLL.com will be finished , we`ll have a better idea on market prices.

It is important that these sales are confirmed. So before to post, make sure payment went OK.

I will start with todays` Sedo confirmed sales:

FISE.com 2,700 Euros
TSRT.com US $760
VEUP.com US $1,700

Also, I found interesting to see this average LLLL, getting bids up to $51 and reserve not me. It says it all.

If the buyout ends, it will be temporary. The domains will be bought sooner or later.

As I have maintained in the past, I have no idea why it would even matter to quality LLLL.

If I am looking at buying a solid CVCV.com I could care less if some turd LLLL are available for hang reg.

Rather than petty bickering it is probably better to focus on the real issue at hand, the end of the buyout.

I highly doubt anyone is "focused" on the end of the buyout. I know I won't be losing any sleep over it.

I don't think a few domains remaining 24 hours after 300 drop qualifies as breaking the buyout, but with low end domains regularly selling below reg fee it is not an important argument.

All you people should panic and dump your LLLLs so I can buy more.

Same here. Snoop basically doesn't post for over a month then when there is any glimmer of hope the buyout might fail of course he shows up. Amusing.

I'm sorry but that buyout has failed, you spent months arguing how that would never happen just like you spent months pervious to that about what the minimum was and how prices wouldn't fall further.

The new "argument du jour" from the LLLL.com cheerleaders (the few that are left) looks to be that it doesn't matter that the buyout has failed.

currently 105 names available.

wat ure saying does not apply only to LLLL
lots of 5L are available to register bt dat does not affect quality 5L (quality= dictionary/acronyms n not pronounceable)

bt here we're talkin bout the "LLLL.com buyout"
sometime ago, any crap LLLL.com had a value more than the reg fee
bt i think now ppl wont be crazy to get 4L dot coms

if more n more domains become available to register den the pronounceable LLLL might lose their value as well

lol m switchin to LLL's now ;)
good bye 4L's

Still over 100 names left from yesterday and more names have just dropped. Buyout is now over although this could just be temporary. Please click my signature to view the new domains. Edit: all of the new names are gone already and I've updated yesterday's list. The total available is 103.

A deep scan from a much larger data sample has just completed. The deep scan would reveal if any buyers had second thoughts due to recent developments and dropped some domains for a refund during the grace period. No additional names were identified.

No one can say with certainty that the buyout is over right now. I certainly don't think it is over just because a boatload of domains all dropped at the same time. To me it's akin to when a seller sells 100+ LLLL.com names at eBay with all of them ending on the same day; prices go way down, several LLLL get no bids, the snoops-of-the-world come running out of their closets to announce impending disaster etc. Happened quite a bit during the year but things stabilized after a short bit each time.

If it stays like this for a few days then yeah I'll subscribe to the thought that the buyout may be failing, but it doesn't even bother me at this point, what with that massive drop and all..

No one can say with certainty that the buyout is over right now.

I think people are clutching at straws with this, it reminds me of a year ago when names would sell for $20 and people would argue at length that the minimum was actually $30. The buyout is very obviously over.

Overall though this is sad and historic day and now the second time the LLLL.com buyout has failed (the first having failed after the last boom (~2001).

At the start of the year I would have thought this result to be unlikely and the speed of decay in this market has surprised even me. Ultimately though it comes down to cash and LLLL.com owners voted with their credit cards on these names. Most have no confidence in this market and the people whose confidence has held up no longer have any cash. The end result is the buyout failing.

The buyout probably made sense in the booming market of 2007 but the huge rise in early 2008 made no sense at all in a backdrop of a suddenly falling domain market and general economy going into recession. The only other major part of the domain industry still rising by that time was LLL.com and that was another disaster story (though not the scale of declines as LLLL.com of course). Those who saw the writing on the wall and got out early obviously made out like bandits and those who got greedy and believed all the hype (7000/26 = $269 anyone?) ultimately become those peopleโ€™s exit strategy.

I think over the next few months weโ€™ll see tonnes of drops in this area as people continue rid themselves of the burden of reg fees on names with no real revenue potential. It wouldnโ€™t surprise me much if in a years time there was 50,000 available. I personally donโ€™t think the end of the buyout will be short term simply because of the scale of renewal money required to hold it up. It isnโ€™t like LLL.mobi or .us where a couple of people can save the day with a few thousand dollars, it is a very different proposition. I have fairly major concerns for the higher quality LLLL.comโ€™s right now, personally I wouldnโ€™t want to be holding these names over the next 6 months as the unregistered numbers grow.

The upside

On one side today is a dark day for LLLL.com, on the other hand today is a good sign for the health of the domain market generally in my view. After several years of unsustainable business models based on flipping to the next guy, we are now have seen the market โ€œclean itselfโ€, market forces are working and the days of hot potato are well and truly over. I expect over the next few years people in this area will either focus of a model which makes money from outside sources (not making money from other domainers) or leave the industry. That will be a good thing for those people and the overall market, the domain market is now on a much more stable footing than two years ago.

Overall though there isnโ€™t a heck of a lot more to say about these names, I suspect if this areas booms again it will be years (last time they took 6 years to come back), be very careful with what you are paying reg fees on.

Nothing has failed yet snoop. Maybe in a couple/few days but you can't say something has failed right away following a massive drop like that. All LLLL drops from today have been registered. Rational minds would give that massive drop yesterday some more time before thinking the buyout has failed.

Your input here is moot anyway to most people. The rest of us in here always come in and talk about LLLL domains when things go Good and when things go Bad. The only time you come scurrying out of your burrow to come post in here is when something negative happens, and that's it.

By the way, last week I hand regged a couple LLLL.com that were available and promptly sold them for over $100 each yesterday on auction. Can verify this if anyone doesnt believe.

Relax snoop, don't get your skivies all in a wad just yet, give it a few days. If all the available domains don't slowly get picked up by then, then ok, we can all dance around the funeral pyre and toss our cheapie LLLL into the blaze together, but quit trying to accelerate the fire by pouring your usual negative gas on it in the meantime please.

facts:
possibly less then a 0.01% of LLLL are currently unregistered; this number has no relevance on the total.

The "booming" market of 2007 is more likely to re-explode given that the economic recovery is alrady started, after two years of strong depression; also under crisis conditions the buyout held regardless of the situation.

This are facts that have to be taken in consideration.

snoop doesn't take positive things into consideration, I have never seen him acknowledge things such as 'improvement' or 'good sales' or 'a rebound in the market' etc. Or positive things such as how the buyout held through one of the greatest world-wide recessions in history, as you mentioned, Truman.

Wow I just took a peek and it looks like quite a few more have now been registered. If anyone can post an up-to-date list of only the available ones left that would be great.
