It's sad, gready idiots. They are not satisfied with one domain, not even 2, they have to buy them all. IMO, that is wrong, and it really pees me off.

There's a lot of talk about these 400 registrars, but I'm not so sure they got involved in the landrush. Can anyone tell me a single domain registered by one of those 400 New York registrars?

Although the 400 New Yorkers were probably not involved, it appears that nevertheless Americans / Canadians registered a minimum of 100,000 of the better .eu domains.

Canadian based Pool, with who knows how many registrars spread out across many countries, probably got over 70,000.
And a company linked to enom and / or dotster used 90 registrars at bellevue and vancouver to register over 30,000 domains. They set up the following shell companies:
aphroditeventures.com, lexiconmedialtd.com, fienna.com, worldonlineendeavours.com, lehighbasin.com, namebattery.com, vinitsia.com, hanoki.com, but it's a poor effort to cover their tracks, those companies were all registered around 21st March and are really one and the same.

I am not implying anything about American citizens and I was very careful when I was writing this post not to create the wrong impression.

But the fact that US based(and of cource canadian) companies had a big part in this fiasco is beyond any doubt.

About the anti-American prejudice, let me ask you one question....why isn't there such prejudice against Canada, France, UK, Japan, Russia or any other major force? Why is the rest of the world anti-American? My opinion is that this is because the US politics contribute to a worse world and to an uncertain tomorrow.

I do understand though that the ordinary american citizen has nothing to do with any of these and there was no such implication in my post, I am sorry if you missunderstood

I don't think europeans were asleep. The only respnsible authority for this mess is EURid and the problem was addressed to them by many parties. By "problem", i am referring to the legal holes in the contracts with registrars. EURid knew about this problem and yet they chose to let things unfold without interfering.

That was a very serious hole in the system and under normal circumstances an authority of EURid's magnitude should have taken care of it immediately. EURid didn't though and this makes me wonder why? I wonder how many things were played and that we have no idea about.

I see being greedy as a good thing, that's how the US has become the richest country in the world. That is something to be proud of.

Europeans are not stupid, I just don't think that amount of interest from outside companies was expected.

Because America is the worlds biggest super power, in both money and might, that's why the world's prejudice is squarely agaisnt the USA. Plain and simple.

LAst I CHECKED Momentous.ca ( owns POOL) is Canadian so those Greedy Canadians and some of those Greedy canadians own .us domains too Like some brits, germans andasians here. DAMN GREEDY NPERS
