The US dollar seems to have dropped again today. What effect will this contined decline have on registration fees? Will we see a round of price increases, or will there be a shift towards another currency as a base for domain deals?

Don't think it really matters too much depending on who your main registrar is. Verisign is American .. so no justification to raise prices since they charge in USD and thus no exchange effect.
International registrars will actually be getting .com's at a discount .. although I doubt you'll see those savings passed on unless the exchange is automated and built into their system.
This is mostly a reaction to the shenanigans with NAFTA talks ... it's the uncertainty .. once things move forward a bit more things should smooth out.
It most certainly is not enough to move away from USD as a base .. it would take significantly more for that to happen.
The thing is that there is no real alternative. The Euro isn't bad .. but it would take something massive for the switch to happen .. it's not nearly there yet.
And before the crypto enthusiasts start chirping .. forget it .. it's not happening .. period .. or at least definitely not for several years (and I don't think ever as governments will start making more and more regulations .. but that's another discussion altogether .. lol)
