I was eyeing a domain that had been listed for quite some time on a particular marketplace with no bids. I placed a bid five minutes before the end time, and, as you might guess, someone outbid me about 30 seconds before the auction closed. That led us into the classic last 30 seconds back and forth.

Well, today just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back, at least for that particular bidder.

From now on, he’ll be outbid on every single one of his bids by AI, yes he will win them all, but not before wasting 2-3 hours of his day.

I call it the time-waster-1.0.

A lot of marketplaces add 5 minutes more when out bid in last 5 minutes. Meaning last 30 seconds would give you 5 1/2 minutes to compete.

I was unaware that there are markets that disclose who the bidder is seems like it’s usually secret and you’re right it’s a time waster and auction can go on for 12 hours longer if it keeps on getting last miniute bids.

Most of those bidders are also bots. Bots bidding against bots.
