The boeing commercial

We didn't invent freedom, although our fighters help preserve
it. We didn't invent democracy, although our missile systems
help defend it. We don't create the peace, although our
satellites and network systems help ensure it. At Boeing, we
break the barriers of technology every day to make our nation
and the world more secure because we can't predict the future,
but it is our honored privilege to help protect it.

I was watching CNN on the 4th of July when I saw this commercial.. It kind of scared me. What are your thoughts on this?

A commercial like this helps people who don't understand why the government has such a hand in airlines. They absolutely will not let such places go out of business simply because of any economic slump. While, Boeing as far as I know only manufactures planes and other flying objects (X-Fiiles Theme), its how much money these airlines put into buying from Boeing that keeps them in business. Simply put, the government isn't letting these companies die out. If they do, you can kiss every other project that deals with flight goodbye.

I just find it strange that Boeing is saying that they are "protecting" democracy by making things that can kill a whole lot of people.

hmm, if you kill a bunch of terrorist that are trying to blow us up, hmm, ya, that protects us.

Not forgetting the whole "employment" aspect. Boeing is a good example. They have a facility in the US that employs about 45,000 people, is open 24/7 with full shifts and the main hanger, alegedly, has it's own weather system nearly..lol

ya, they are one of the biggest companies, and they dont just make airplanes. If they left seatle, then seatle's economy would drop a ton.
