This is a wrong answer, the correct answer is zero years old or if you like you can mention that its a few weeks/months old.

You could try a poll to sort out the different opinions here !

It's 0. Every drop resets the counter, so it speaks to domaining fellows for its value.

Also it has no any impact on enduser-demand...

When a domain is won during redemption period it normally retains its original age or in this case 17 years.

What auction in this period???
In RGP the domain can be restored for special fee by current/losing registrant only.

There is a difference between a domain's AGE and its HISTORY. The domain's HISTORY includes all the times it was regged and dropped since the beginning; the domain's AGE refers only to the most recent time it was regged until now.

If the domain was regged for 20 years, then dropped, then regged again today, it would have a history going back 20 years but the age starts today.

so if I win the domain in RGP won't the domain be restored and transfered to me ?

Regarding expired domains - you can win auction only in Autorenew Grace Period...
But in Redemption (RGP) - no any auctions are possible for 3rd-parties.

so a snake oil salesman would say?

"blahblah.com was registered back in 1980."

period. short and sweet.

you can even ADD

"Historical 25 years!"

just never use the word AGE. just use Historical.

That plus

"It was reg back in 1980 so it's been SPIDERED 30 years. Great for SEO!"

I await to be corrected as I'm probably wrong wrong wrong. thanks.
