I run a couple of forums and I have my registration process so people have to enter the "random code" like most forum webmasters do.

I get annoyed when spammers continue to sign up and just put "test" in most of the profile fields.

Anyone know why they put "test" in these fields?

Are they testing their spam programs or something?

Of course I just ban them for life.

Cheers

I´ve never seen such a "test" message". I´m running a forum with about xx.000 registered users and its several years old.
Possible these are spam bots ? Or a they human ?
A "random code" doesn´t mean that´s really save.

I would check the logfiles and the IP range of the "tester" and make sure your forums software is always up-to-date.

Also one of my forums there were more than registrations 0 posts just within 2 days. A bot I think reason was using "web site" field. I used to delete this kind of accounts but since this is a brand new forum so i thought wut the heck, simply removed the link and kept accounts !

Be prepared for spam entries in your forum some day.
Let me know if I can help you when they start to attack your forum.

Spam bots are getting smarter everyday, and can normally crack the typical captcha used on forums. They haven't been able to crack the reCAPTCHA yet, so if you find a mod for your forum that allows you to use it, use it.

Also, believe it or not, but people are actually paid to signup on your forum human verifiying the reCAPTCHA then launching spam attacks. It's a sad, sad world we live in.
