I was just nitpicking about what, specifically, .com is supposed to "stand for". Commercial entities is correct, my interpretation has always been "commerce". Some might say com(pany). In the grand scheme of things, it probably just really doesn't matter too much nowadays.Hey Forge, what was on your mind?
What struck me is how much .com has seemed to have lost its primary meaning among the young people, and so they must even more so operate with thinking other things that .com has come to represent to them. What Exactly those 2ndary meanings are in their minds..... 'the original', 'the real thing', 'more stable', 'more secure to deal with', ..........

When I am pitching sales I always use this snippet:
"Obviously owning a matching .COM relevant to your business lends a great deal of credibility, authority, and prestige..."
