Hi,

I hope someone can help me with a question I got.

I bought a domain from tdnam and the contact details and dns changed over to me recently.

I now got a serious purchase offer I am going to accept.

My question is this, can this domain name be transferred away, straight away, using escrow or is it under a "lock" and have to stay with Godaddy for x no of days?

Cheers

One Possible Solution

Unlock the domain. After you get your money, ask the buyer to create a godaddy.com account if he doesn't already have one. Have the buyer give you his godaddy Account ID and email addresses used in his account.

Log into your godaddy account, click on your domain name, then click on "account change" in the title bar directly above the domain name details, then select "Use details from specified customer account" and enter that info in the box directly above, then enter in the boxes to the right the buyers email address. Click next, and then click ok to finish the procedure.

The buyer should get an email telling him how to accept an account change. He really doesn't need it. All he has to do is log into his account, click on "My Account," then he'll see a stack of green rectangles to the left of the screen. Click on the one that reads: "My Account" This should open up some subfolder links. Then click on "Pending Account Changes." The buyer will not need an authorization code. On this page there should be a check box somewhere that reads something like "express acceptance." This bypasses the need for any authorization codes. Then click on through until he's done.

Total push time should be seconds.

Hope this helps.

Cheers homebuyer, rep added!!

The only worry is that its quite a lot of money, mid xxxx. I am pretty sure the buyer, and myself, want to use an escrow service. Guess its out of the question :(

You can use an escrow service. Once you have confirmed Escrow.com lets say has the money, you can safely push the name to their account. They confirm having it & you can get paid. I've used Escrow.com on a number of occasions involving names at Go Daddy.

I agree; and if in doubt, use escrow.

Have the buyer create their own GoDaddy account. Use Escrow.com. When they tell you to transfer the domain, push it to their GoDaddy account. Simple. Yep, you cannot transfer out for 60 days.
