Currently mrhz.com is at auction on DropCatch (sitting a little over $200 at the moment).

The funny thing is, DropCatch caught that name last year and it sold for over $1,000. Now here it is a year later, dropped and at auction again. Huge waste!

That is because liquid chips had a floor value around that range, it has now dropped to about $400.

There is many many losers who thought this value was a stable hold, that are holding jargon chips that they are under water on.

    Happens all the time.

Wannabe "domain investors" buy overpriced domains for $xxx and drop next year (no inquiries and out of business already).

I bid 800 bucks on a domain at an expiring auction and the owner renewed before the domain hit my account. Afterwards the owner contacted me directly and asked if I wanted it for said amount. I declined telling him I was actually glad I did not get it because I was drawn in at the heat of the moment.

Sometimes auctions of any sort get force you to make quick decisions in the short run that may not be the best decisions in the long run.

Lesson learned.... set your maximum bid before beginning any auction, stay focused and do not overshoot your max price on a momentary lapse in judgement. It is our desire to win that sometimes beats our rational decision making process.

The amount of names that drop within a few years of selling for $1-5k is amazing. I picked up two this week 😬

Which place you're bidding because you said the domain owner contacted you so I'm wondering how did he got your contact info?

    Thanks!

It was GoDaddy and it was a maple domain. It's not hard to guess who bids on maple domains :xf.laugh:

Domain owner was a namepros member.
