To age a domain, it either requires buying an old preowned one or renewing for many years (a cash intensive exercise, esp at $170 every 2 years)I’m seeing that 10+ year-old .ai domains (like mila.ai) keep generating sales.
What I mean is this: the older the .ai domain (even though public WHOIS often shows 2017 for many of them, while some are actually older), the higher the chance of a significant sale.
the older the .ai domain, the higher the chance of a significant sale.
This is generally true across the board.
Better names get registered earlier because they are better.
And better names have a higher chance of selling for more.
it wasn’t domainers buying them. It was regular people. And they weren’t looking for the best names, just names.
Everyone buys better names because they are better.
And they are better because everyone buys them![]()
Not everyone. cbreeze.ai was registered in 2004 or earlier, while breeze.ai was registered after 2016.
Which name seems better, the one registered first, or the second one?
Because the second one (without the “c”) sold for $225,000 last year.
But still, it took more than 12 years for it to be registered.
And yet conversational 'wisdom' states that the reason a domain is unregistered is because it's garbage / nobody wants it.Not everyone. cbreeze.ai was registered in 2004 or earlier, while breeze.ai was registered after 2016.
Which name seems better, the one registered first, or the second one?
Because the second one (without the “c”) sold for $225,000 last year.
But still, it took more than 12 years for it to be registered.
Which is why I said generally true.
There are exceptions to every rule.
But generally speaking better names get taken earlier.
Everyone buys better names because they are better.
And they are better because everyone buys them![]()
