Suppose I have a domain called domain.com, and I have created some subdomains, but I don't want the subdomains to be hosted on the same server.chris_j said:Question still not clear... :]
Can you give us a real-life example to explain what you are exactly asking?
cheers, it sure helps.virgil said:I've done this before, photomonkey. I used zoneedit (zoneedit.com) to manage DNS, and then pointed each subdomain to the server configured for it. I mostly used plesk cp for this because it's easy to create standalone subdomain accounts. I hope this helps.![]()
I do have full control of the domain. I guess the DNS can be done on www.zoneedit.com as mentioned above.YUPAPA said:You must have full controls over your domain name including the DNS.
You have the modify the DNS zone for that domain name. The DNS zone contains your domain DNS settings including all the subdomains, MX, etc.
You have to modify the subdomains so that it points to the correct IP address to the server you wish to go to.
Yeah, I had thought about that as well. But then I thought that if the forwarding site went down the others would suffer as well. That is why I was wondering about the DNS stuff.legend2 said:a simple solution can be hosting both subdomains on oen server, and forward requests for the 2nd to the second server
