Subdirectory?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if someone can help me. I'm slightly new to web design and I wanted to know how to create a website url such as www.domainname.com/home. Right now every page on my site is under www.domainname.com, so when you click refresh, it takes you back to the start page. Is there some type of coding or something I have to do so that the homepage can be easily accessed by typing www.domainname.com/home and for another example, the contests page could be accessed by clicking www.domainname.com/contests ? Please help, thank you, it is all much appreciated.

Make a folder called contest and then inside of it make an index.html. That way you can link to www.yoursite.com/contest/ and it will go to that page. I hope that helped. If not, please pm me and I can help.
