Strange Stroke of Luck at TDNAM

This is the first time I have ever seen this happen.

I was scanning the lists and found a domain that seemed really premium and generic but it was listed as having zero traffic which struck me as very odd. When I checked the domain in my browser the domain's site (having to do with cabin rentals) was still showing instead of the default expired domain Godaddy page which I have always seen after countless thousands of searches on expired domains.

Well..... the domain had it's owners cabin site up to the day of bidding... so that is why TDNAM was showing the domain as having ZERO traffic up to the bidding day (since they were not counting uniques off of the default GD parked page). I won it for $10 + reg fee.

I now have the domain in my account and it is doing about six dollars a day with about 18 uniques a day and over 100% CTR. Undoubtedly some of that is from the previous owner's work..... but the ultra-generic nature of the domain is counting for a lot of the traffic as well looking at the referrer logs.

It just goes to show that there still are deals out there..... even if it is a fluke.

TDNAM can be very rewarding. There's nothing better than sifting through all of the garbage domains and finding an excellent name.

Good on you!! I love tdnam. Every now and then true gems are sitting there ready to be picked up :)

A couple of weeks ago I picked up a domain in the $5 bin and yesterday I sold it for $3k. Once the DNS changed over I got an email from an end user with the sweet words 'how much?' :)

hey thanks for sharing that - rep added. it all helps get a picture of end users' wants.

on reflection it seems like a pretty good childcare type company name - but not one i would have thought of regging, though!

nice skills, well done.
