What does status hold mean?

That means the registrar possibly has it. If you lookup the domain's WHOIS in
that registrar, what does the expiration date say?

I guess you are talking about a .biz domain...if that's the case, Status:INACTIVE Status:HOLD means registrant didn't provide valid server information (nameserver) at the time of registration/renewal

So I guess a or SOME countries cannot be reg....???
