Starting java... question.

What do i download to actually start typing scripts, saving and running it?

Like, for C#, i use microsoft visual studio .net or something, what do i use for Java? Also whats the best program to use?

You can use an IDE such as NetBeans.

If you're just starting out, BlueJ is a good IDE for learning.

Thanks, downloaded BlueJ, and getting fimiluar with it.. might try NetBeans later.


Once i get comfortable, is there a better program to use?

Ok, right now im using the NetBeans, i like it alot so far. What do i need to download to view .java files though?

I'm getting back to java, and will be using the opensource Eclipse - http://www.eclipse.org/ .

k, i think i got an idea of which ones to use, will test them out and go with my favorite...


But, what do i need to install to view .Java files? like im reading tutorials, and it says to save it as .Java and you should be able to view it, but it opens in notepad for me.
