Spain's ccTLD, .ES, is soon to be open to world without restrictions. ccTLD's are growing even faster than the gTLD's and not only does .ES represent Spain but the whole Espanol (Spanish) community on the entire planet. Spanish, mind you, is the second most popular language only to English. There is a great opportunity here, find out more about the .ES land rush and more with special guest, Freddy Schiwek, VP of EuroDNS.

Don't miss out on the .ES land rush.

Thank you so kindly and happy domaining to all!

Good luck with your business Fredy.

I do agree that the price of the extention will increase, but please do not think that .es means a extention for all spanish language speakers, as it is not, it is only for people form Spain.

If you ask to an argentinian, mexican, a chilean, colombian, peruvian, ecuadorian, uruguayan, they prefer their local extentions or .com; if they have the opportunity of .es normally they will refuse it as a valid alternative, except if they have business in Spain and want to protect it there.

Just a example, almost all people that do not live in Spain and opens a account in yahoo prefer to have something like @yahoo.com or @yahoo.com.mx instead of yahoo.es. Spanish companies, in special are not very much appreaciated in South America.

.ES it's the extension only to Spain, but it might very well be used to target all spanish speaking persons. For example if a franchise company wanted to sell franchises to people in the United Sates they could do very well having franchise.us, almost the same to .es, if you want to sell movies per say, you'll do very well with peliculas.es, because the domain is describing itself, you'd be selling movies (peliculas) in spanish (.ES ESpañol), and no matter where hispanics are from, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, even Puerto Rico, they all like watching movies in spanish, they don't have to be in Spain.

And just so you know Spanish IT IS the second most popular language but not only to English, rather second only to Chinese.

Regards

True. However, I'll bet a buch of people register english words without even thinking about it. I really like .info because it crosses the language barier and means the same in many languages

English - Information
Spanish - información
French - l'information
Italian - le informazioni
Portuguese - informação
German - Informationen
Chinese - 信息 (well, okay it does'nt work well for this one)

And just so you know Spanish IT IS the second most popular language but not only to English, rather second only to Chinese.

Depends on the source and how they classify dialects. several places list in this order:

1. Chinese (Mandarin) 1,075,000,000
2. English 514,000,000
3. Hindustani 496,000,000
4. Spanish 425,000,000
5. Russian 275,000,000
6. Arabic 256,000,000
7. Bengali 215,000,000
8. Portuguese 194,000,000
9. Malay-Indonesian 176,000,000
10. French 129,000,000

Some other lists show enlish, Hindu, and Spanish in various 2-3-4 positions. "popular" may be interpreted differently as spoken as a first language or just as a spoken language as well. Many Mexicans, Japanese, and Indians speak English as well as Spanish.
