Spanish domains, what's your opinion on them? .com .net extensions?

I would like to know what kind of opinions people have on .com - .net Spanish domains?

Is only the .com extension interesting with a good solid keyword or perhaps the .net as well or even .org - .info?

How is the market for these type of domains?
How are people doing with Spanish domains?

Did you have any success with Spanish domains?

Thanks in advance for sharing your views.

On a lark, a few days ago I reg'd around 10 Spanish words. What was either good or bad (you decide), was what seemed to be lots of available names, particularly in .net and down. Never would I have expected words like "muchas" and "otras" to be available in any major extension. Then again, even some very premium Spanish words are not registered by many ccTLD extensions. It's a puzzler of sorts.

I was quite surprised as well. I picked up a couple of Spanish domains as well (.net - .info), i noticed some nice keywords where available so i jumped on board.

The biggest pain is that i would really like to develop them into something more then only a domain but the language is a big barrier to overcome for me and for anyone else that is not familiar with the Spanish language.

Also something i am wondering about, what's the deal with the special characters?

Let's say you have a domain: Informacion.net but written in Spanish it's officially Información where you can see there is a special character in place for the O letter.

Can we disregard special characters like ó when it comes to domains?

From what i can tell as of now there is interesting potential in Spanish domains just from an availability point of view, as there are some nice gems to be picked up and like you mentioned especially in other extension then .com such as .net - .info - .org

That's a good question. On one hand, the characters really mean something to native speakers, yet non-native speakers may not have the font capability to include them. When I did a cut and paste of some domains to notepad, some spelling changed because of the marks.

I've tried to get a few one word spanish .com ones in a drop but have'nt so far, I doubt .net and .info would be big sellers but thats JMO

Thanks Gaz, interesting article. Do you perhaps know how old this article exactly is?
I did a last modified command but that didn't yield any results to determine from when the article is dated.

I am also not expecting really big sales from the domains i have acquired but more a decent return with some development or in a later stage to be able to flip it with some return.

The big Spanish .com domain sales we have seen on Sedo recently is not what i am expecting :) only hope for.... :hehe:
