I just tried Spaceship.com. They're a NameCheap brand and launched their beta. I think they rightfully deserve a thread on NP to discuss our experiences with their new registrar.

Remember, it's still in beta so do expect some glitches, work to be done... Would be cool in someone from NC would care to chip in :) @tamar

At the moment, when importing new domains to SellerHub, CamelCase is sometimes respected, sometimes not. (Chrome & Firefox)
Thanks for reporting. I have passed to the team to check as it's definitely not expected behavior.

@Marina Savina Domains in redemption used to show number of days before the domain is removed. Now it shows "Expired domain will be removed soon". Why was this changed?

Please pretty please allow buyers to browse BrandStore without all the freaking logos (my biggest pet peeve with Atom). Your new competitor, Dynadot's NameClub, has a toggle for this.

@silentg , we updated the redemption notice to be in line with our expired domains renewal policy. As we guarantee renewal only within 30 days after expiration and after that the domain renewal is not guaranteed, though in most cases it's still possible to renew or restore, the counter now is available only up till guaranteed period end.

Hello Jannes, this issue has been fixed. For all new imports CamelCase should be always respected. For existing domains a manual update will be required. It can be done either via sellerhub interface or by csv file re-import.

I checked the domain nameโ€™s availability several times with different registrars, and it was always available. I checked with a couple of them, except for Spaceship. Then I decided to register it with Spaceship and entered it (being logged in) โ€” right away, it showed as taken. I checked through WHOIS, and it shows that it was registered at exactly the same moment I typed it into Spaceship (Registrar:GoDaddy.com, LLC). Insider tactics, scripts, etc. โ€” very shady practices. I never had a bad opinion of Spaceship before. Just a bunch of rats incl. GD๐Ÿ–•
Iโ€™m curious โ€” is this even legal?

You might be surprised to learn that sometimes people register names so that a name that was once available is no longer available.

Congrats, you found a domain that someone else also deemed worth registering. You're on the right track!

When buying a domain, in the checkout process, I should be able to click a toggle box "List on Seller Hub" and it drops down a small input area for price etc. and it will automatically be listed for sale all in one go.

Also, CUSTOM NAMESERVERS in checkout (not preset nameservers, custom)

If it was registered at Godaddy, you have a misplaced criticism of Spaceship โ€” don't you?

Wherever he registered, the registration happened instantly when checking availability on Spaceship.

How could I have known this? I checked the domainโ€™s availability a couple of times with other registrars, and it was still available. Then the moment came when I decided to register it. I checked availability a few times on a couple of sites without logging in โ€” it showed as available. I already had the Spaceship site open and was logged in there. I left those other sites, and within seconds I was back on Spaceship, pasted the domain into the search bar, and hit Search โ€” and it was taken. I checked WHOIS โ€” it was registered that same day, right around midnight. While I suspect some registrars may not always show up-to-date information, Porkbun has always shown accurate and current availability, and just seconds earlier it displayed the domain as available.

right, so there is no reason to believe that Spaceship have anything to do with a registration made at Godaddy.

I think that if I had checked on Spaceship while not logged in, the name would have appeared available. I donโ€™t know much about scripts, but I know there are ones that, when you log in, check certain names. Surely there are also ones that do it without logging in. I donโ€™t know. I recently read an interview with Mike Mann here on the forum via a link, and heโ€™s basically pushing the idea that his program is constantly crawling day and night and registering domains according to patterns.
My complaint about Spaceship โ€” if Iโ€™m right โ€” is that it allows such actions. Actually, this applies to all registrars that permit this. Iโ€™ve had such cases more than once. Non-hype domains suddenly became taken right after checking them. Or at most a couple of days later.

hi @Kass
I can assure you that Spaceship is not involved in any such activities. With hundreds of thousands of domains being registered daily across the industry, itโ€™s only natural for a name youโ€™re considering to be taken by someone else at any time.
To avoid this kind of situation, I'd recommend registering your desired domains as soon as possible
