Spaceship.com recently launched a new Marketplace section, and as NamePros has given me the go-head, I think the company deserves its own thread for NP domain marketplace users to converse in.

https://www.spaceship.com/sellerhub/

Personally speaking, I will be setting up a new Spaceship.com account this weekend and going to work investigating its various features, options and policies.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Glad to see the privateโ€‘equity deal reached a successful close. It's always encouraging when a transaction of that scale comes together smoothly.

@enetwork
Any chance you can add a buyer facing marketplace search feature for your 5mm+ SellerHub listings?
@enetwork - if you guys can provide a CSV export of your listings, I can add a dedicated Spaceship search interface on DomDB in like a day or two. I'm an affiliate, let's work together :xf.smile:

Ambitious, but it looks like Spaceship staff have stopped participating here.

1x csv doesn't seem optimal. That list would become stale quickly. Don't they have an API? Perhaps they can deliver the data that way?

It'd still be pretty accurate if they update a CSV export regularly (preferably hourly or even daily).

I assume they're using a modern database, so exporting 5m rows of "domain, price, min offer, etc" data should take less than 15 minutes.

Namecheap already does this with their BIN listings (I think its updated ~3 hours).

Unfortunately, Spaceship's API doesn't provide this data.

I still don't understand how a guy with low budget, like the guy who started undeveloped, already from 5-6 years ago could provide instant update of visits to a listing, but the big players can't do it today, in the ai era? I understand that for some reason, godaddy, afternic and sedo don't have any interest to help their sellers and provide this kind of updates, but regarding spaceship and probably even atom, I'm expecting them for 2026 updates. We should see instanly when somebody is visiting a listing, how long they stayed on the landing page and from where they came. Also, I would like that when you have an offer or inquiry, you will have the option to check how many times the buyer visited your listing before that, what other listings he visited or even what kind of offers he made to other domains, if any. This would help a lot a seller, but probably I"m expecting to much.

I gues that @Marina Savina 's partecipation to the SS threads, here in NP, was their Troian horse move [ and I feel sorry for her past role, here, though ]:

They breach in our heart, they fake to be present and to understand the buyer/seller/domainers needs, they take on board done advices and then, the shut off any a bad of communications but using just X as an official channel.

This is that kind of move I personally consider when a new subject come up on the market and I start to consider to move my stuff...

Spaceship & Richard Kirkendall don't appear to have posted any explanation here on this key marketplace thread. Even if there were an apology for not communicating the sudden price rise, neglecting us as domain owners / partners may be inexcusable. We're reminded we've little power -- big players dictate; we eat corporate decisions ... or migrate. Each of us has his or her own feeling of what is intolerable - I hope beyond krokodile tears we'll see substantive efforts to repair trust.

Nearly all of those things are possible without even requiring a visitor to log in.

Kind of makes me want to build a lander platform with proper analytics.

Are we still emailing support for Spaceship payouts? Do they have a way to set the payout method?

The downside is that it would cause domainers to inflate their prices against certain people based on what listings they viewed. Checking how many times a listing is viewed could cause someone to raise the price and make it harder for the person to obtain the domain. Showing too much data seems unfair IMO.

A domainer is just as likely to lower the price to sell it while it's getting views as they are to raise it (or they may just leave it as is).

Atom shows this data and I've heard no issues since they started doing it

(this was a ccTLD sale (.fi), hence the "thank you for your patience" part)

The more I think about, the more the potential of a "Buyer Premium" option (with is the default payment method at most large auction houses) really starts to make sense. In fact, it could be a game-changer for premium sellers.

The problem is that Spaceship just slapped on a 5% Buyer Premium out of the blue, with no advance notice or seller control. Now they say it's a 10% Seller Commission and you can negotiate the Buyer/Seller ratio with potential buyers. Meh.

Why not make the Buyer Premium/Seller Commission rates a user setting?

Lets say a seller wants to use a 2% Buyer Premium and an 8% Seller Commission, you would just plug those numbers in your settings and have all future sales use those figures to determine commission costs. Those who don't want to take part would keep the default 0% Buyer Premium and a 10% Seller Commission rates. And for premium domain sellers who want to, they could go all-out with a 10% Buyer Premium and 0% Seller Commission (like major auction houses) as a way to potentially lower costs and increase profits.

The key is to give sellers TOTAL CONTROL over how this new 10% commission is broken up between buyer and seller, without the need to restate your commission ratio over and over and over, each time you open a negotiation.

Is it not a 10% Seller commission now?

yes, it's a 10% seller commission for BIN and negotiable between buyer/seller for MO (or will be once they "launch" it)
