Spaceship.com recently launched a new Marketplace section, and as NamePros has given me the go-head, I think the company deserves its own thread for NP domain marketplace users to converse in.

Personally speaking, I will be setting up a new Spaceship.com account this weekend and going to work investigating its various features, options and policies.

Recently i noticed big drop in visitors/traffic for domains using spaceship lander !!
Anyone noticed the same ?

Probably just improved bot blocking. About a third (or quarter) of my traffic came from Vietnam, but now it seems to have been blocked.

It's how many people searched for "lean" without the TLD. And because the search shows instant results, if someone was typing a longer word that started with lean and they paused for a second, that would also count as a search.

Is this a sudden spike, if I may ask, @Jannes? And what was the previous daily average?

It may well be right; it's super versatile, and at least three of its possible uses are really hot right now.

The stats updated and now yesterday's NC search shows 19 (≈daily average), so it was a spike alright.

It's too bad that Spaceship representatives are not active here anymore. It would be nice to know the ETA on more useful viewstats, especially repeat visitors. Elon's madhouse seems to be their preferred channel.

Yes, their absence is a bit conspicuous. One certainly has to wonder if the initial engagement was to assist with a significant push to increase DUM prior to the sale of NameCheap. Spaceship has the best pricing ongoing anywhere (aside from transfer deals and Friday rego deals at Unstoppable). It makes me think there is a good chance that Spaceship prices could increase now that it has a new owner...

Vietnamese bots are back in my stats. Based on visitor countries, almost all lander traffic is from bot factories. Everyone knows (or should know) that traffic has no correlation to domain sales, so why even show us this meaningless junk? (yeah yeah I don't have to look at them )

Kindly do the needful to block this locations, They keep appearing on traffic stats and i believe Vietnam & Saudi arabia are bot traffic .

Yikes, just confirmed that I am seeing this too. That is a huge problem. If Spaceship need to increase their commission, that is very reasonable, going from 5% to 10% commission is reasonable, but doing it in secret by charging buyers is completely unacceptable.

I pride myself on being clear and upfront with my buyers in negotiations. I describe Spaceship as commission free for the buyer because that is the industry standard across all payment options. Unless I had seen this post I would have been misleading my buyers, which compromises negotiations. There are also tax implications for some buyers, i.e: my buyers are now paying for the domain (an asset) and Spaceship (a service fee).

@Spaceship @enetwork I don't know if this is an experiment or a permanent change but please remove this immediately. Charging a commission to buyers is a significant change. Sellers need to opt-in to this change, if it is to be made permanent, to give them the chance to evaluate if it is right for their buyers. I would much, much rather you increase the seller commission to 10% (or even 15%!) than do this.

Fortunately for me, I only use Spaceship to facilitate transactions and not for landing pages. I'll be removing my Spaceship payment option until this is resolved. I like Spaceship for the quick turnaround on transactions and I will pay 10% commission but I will not burden my buyers with a commission at their end.
