Spaceship.com recently launched a new Marketplace section, and as NamePros has given me the go-head, I think the company deserves its own thread for NP domain marketplace users to converse in.

https://www.spaceship.com/sellerhub/

Personally speaking, I will be setting up a new Spaceship.com account this weekend and going to work investigating its various features, options and policies.

I was thinking, @Marina Savina, it would be beneficial for your marketplace to introduce a new feature on the seller landing pages, something like a 'Watch It' button.

This button would give potential buyers the ability to track the price performance of domains they're interested in, monitoring both increases and decreases, encouraging the buyer to start a conversation if and when the domain price fits their budget.

Concurrently, it would be highly valuable to integrate a new metric into the Seller Hub statistics, showing how often each domain is being monitored by users [ aka how many potential buyers are watching the seller's landing page], showing the seller their domain's popularity in your Marketplace:

As a matter of fact, the simple 'Page view' and 'Visit' are just numbers that don't explain to the seller what's up with his landing pages [ what does it mean 'X visit'? Unique visit? Is it the same potential buyer watching the landing page X times on different days? We can apply this question to the Page views metric too though ].

Thank you in advance for considering it.

I received a reply from Spaceship:
Apparently, they "are obligated to initiate the verification process in my case." In other words, they sold my domain in their marketplace and now are supposedly required to see my documents to "protect me from fraud." Then comes the nonsense about how reliable the company Veriff.com is (although in my previous message I quoted their own policy, where it clearly says they do not even guarantee the security of the data) and that they can request anything "government-issued photo identification and/or government-issued business identification, plus whatever else We deem required and necessary, in order to verify Your identity".

In short, I have removed all my domains from the Spaceship marketplace. I will wait to see what public response comes from a Spaceship representative, because selling domains on a platform where my funds from those sales get blocked seems like a very questionable idea.

It sure would be interesting to know why those 2 particular transactions were flagged, out of the dozens that you've made on Spaceship...

Already done and fixed. Based on obvious user history, this was a very bad decision taken by our team. Obviously our fault and no excuses.
Thank you. After your intervention, the restrictions on my account were lifted. Unfortunately, I never received any explanation for the reasons behind such actions, and the transaction was processed immediately after the restrictions were removed, with the funds credited to my account. This clearly means that there were no issues with the transaction itself, but for some reason, the questions were directed at me - though I still have no idea why.

I really hope this will not happen again, especially if I decide to withdraw part of the funds I earned on your platform to my account or wallet. I would not want to go through this again. In any case, thank you very much for your time and for your help in resolving the problem.

To be honest I'm glad robosapien's issue is resolved, although it did so after him threatening to move his sizable business elsewhere (and with good reason! I would do the same).

I don't have the size or quality of robosapien's portfolio sitting on Spaceship, but I do have ±200 domains sitting there for selling and tbf the lack of transparency and ad-hoc decision-making is a bit scary.

I hope your processes get more transparent - no matter how good or bad they are.

Agreed, other forum members previous email responses shown like you just transferred domains to save money=duh
Get the terms of everything laid out and be transparent not the squeaky wheel gets the grease as needed when they broadcast it on the forum.

When you turn off minimum offer, the On/Off goes dim but the amount stays bright. It might be easier to view when scanning names if the amount went dim when it was turned off.

Also on Leasing. I think it should be bright if its active as it adds confusion with all the bright/dim lighting.
Makes it look disabled or off. On Sale page, "Live" should be bright if on.

Basically a process this was not followed properly. Your history with us is the most important marker and it wasn't considered as it should have been.

To clarify for readers all the context and why this situation surprised me: I did not expect this kind of behavior from a subsidiary of a major registrar like Namecheap. I currently have a balance of $20,180.36 with Spaceship. These funds came from selling domains in their own marketplace, and I've already used part of the proceeds to transfer new domains to Spaceship and renew existing ones.

Over the last 30 days, I sold 17 domains on the Spaceship marketplace (out of 18,123 that are listed for sale in their marketplace and are in my account) for a total of $20,483. Spaceship's commission is 5%, i.e., $20,483 × 5% = $1,024.15. They successfully deducted this fee (their revenue), and the remaining amount was credited to my balance. For each sale I received an email confirming the payment verification procedure.
Nice sales, and thanks for always sharing them!

$20+k is a lot of money (at least for me) to leave in a privately-owned third-party account.

For safety measures, why not transfer it to an account under your own name?

In my life, I have faced situations where the personal data I provided for identification - requested by supposedly very big and important organizations - later ended up leaked online, where absolutely anyone could download scans of my passport and my face, see my home address, date and place of birth, and mobile phone number. As a result, my SIM card with that phone number was reissued using this data, and there were attempts to hack my online banking, email, and social media accounts. Not to mention how many calls I’ve received from scammers who knew all my personal details and tried to steal my money under various pretexts.

Only because I used two-factor authentication everywhere possible (which, by the way, is also active on Spaceship) did it all end without any serious losses on my side. Still, I had to spend a huge amount of time reissuing all my documents.

I will never again in my life give my document scans to anyone, anywhere, unless it truly makes sense or is legally required - and I strongly advise everyone to do the same and stay away from any services that do not respect users privacy and put them at risk of fraud by collecting such data.

In this situation, there are absolutely no valid reasons to demand my document scans. They can verify my identity by phone call, video call, a bank transfer showing my name, a tax declaration if there are doubts about tax compliance or residency, a utility bill, and so on.
I just happened to be reading this today. These third-party verification providers are certainly a concerning attack vector.

I'm optimistic about Spaceship on the whole and it's encouraging to see the founder so actively responding to issues and resolving them.

On the other hand, this episode does not instil confidence in what is (let's be honest) a relatively new player in the space. I really want Spaceship to be a core part of my domain strategy.

How long will we have to wait for the bulk LTO update? I have a lot of domains and I can't deal with it one by one!

Bulk LTO updating is very important , it is really hassle to dot it one by one !!
Please when this option will be added to spaceship ???

The initial excitement seems to be fading.

I've been waiting for BULK LTO for weeks. I'll wait another week, or if that doesn't work, I think I'll go back to Afternic. My LTO sales were very popular. Now, things aren't looking good for my portfolio! Setting up 3,000 domains one by one is tedious and unnecessary! This should be a simple process!

If you don't care about your customers, Afternic is ready for us!

Just go back to Afternic. You can come back to SS when you feel it meets your LTIlO needs.

Has anyone tested their SellerHub Sales Pages on mobile devices?

If not, you might want to.

I've tested two completely different devices on two different data networks, using Safari Private and Chrome Incognito and the pages do not resolve to the cart much less add anything to the cart.

Right now if you try to add to SellerHub a name (registered elsewhere) that someone else left listed on SellerHub (supposedly prior to expiry) the only process is manually going through service. Unlike competitors like Sedo, Afternic and Atom, there is not a simple automated process using your unique SellerHub TXT verification. Rather, they will manually instruct you to temporarily add a new TXT code. I can't for the life of me see how that adds any security.

As a new marketplace they probably don't yet have a lot of these. But give it about a year, and service will grind to a halt if they keep doing them this manual way. At Afternic typically 25% of the names I add have been left up by the previous owners. Since many domainer acquisitions are from expired auctions, closeouts, or using ExpiredDomains to find recently dropped domains, that is not unusual.

Here are some numbers. Twice at SellerHub I have needed to go through this manual process. Both times there were from names that had expired, I had registered them at a different registrar. Each time was 2 domains, so 4 in total. I noted and the first time took 26 minutes of my, and the Spaceship Agent time. At the end of that, the old listings were taken down, so I could add them with my TXT codes as normal.

But what if say in a year 2 million new listings are being added to SellerHub and 25% of them, in a year's time, are stale listings? That is 500,000 x (26/60) = 217,000 hrs of service help time. If the effective wage is $20 per hour, that is a needless annual cost of about $4.3 million per year to Spaceship. Do I have your attention yet, Spaceship? For something that could readily be automated, like your competitors do.

The most recent time, was even worse. It was for two .com names. Clearly the names had expired. I had registered them at a different registrar. I had put my unique TXT codes. I had talked to Alf, trying to convince him/it that what he was telling people was not right, and that this really needed to get to people in charge. He told me he would, but hey I know that AI just tells people what they want to hear, most times, so trying this here. Anyway, yes those two names are listed, but this time after two days.

@Spaceship you really, really need to automate text verification for names left listed on SellerHub by previous owners and not simply say they fail and you need to contact support to handle each one manually.

I like many things about your marketplace (especially the commission and the landers and the prominence of how listings appear at Namecheap), but if you don't fix this the unnecessary costs and domainer frustration will be significant. I've listed over 800 names at SellerHub. 796 smoothly. But these 4 were a headache. Please listen.

Thank you,

Bob

How does payout even work at Spaceship? Joined recently and yet to have a sale here, but I would like to configure my payout settings and fill my bank account data in advance but looks like it is going to be manual process, why?

Also, I would not like to deal with sudden nonsense identity verification demands and shady third party services too. I only ever receive payments from marketplaces via wire transfer, which means they are being sent to my legal name confirmed by the bank, I believe that is more than enough of "verification" (and all other marketplaces I use seem to think so too); so it would be nice to know in advance whether my account is "cleared" to receive payments or not; I would pull my listings out if its the latter.

At the current time, it's manual - you give them the details after the sale. That ability to pre-configure payout settings is still coming.

I can't speak to the latter point. @Spaceship
