Sometimes Freebies Pay Off..

Sometimes online freebies and promotionals can pay off.. a few months ago, I signed up at the Upper Deck website to receive their choice of 1 promotional sample card.

A few days ago, I received an UD 05 - 06 Rookie Showcase Alexander Ovechkin (NHL Washington Capitals) special card. Looking on eBay, I found these cards have gone over $60 each recently so I've listed mine already! I'll be satisfied to get over $40.. I'm not greedy

No, offer closed a few months ago.. I'd even forgotten about it (and because I don't follow hockey, had never heard of this player!).

I'm not sure links to my own auction would be ethical here.. but you can do a keyword search on eBay for these cards to see how they're doing...

I was hoping someone would snag it for the BIN of $49.99, but it's already got the opening bid of 99 cents.. the others started off at 99 cents as well. No matter what it ends up selling for, it's "found money"..

Almost makes me feel guilty.. almost

It's like the time I found a shoebox full of old postcards at a garage sale.. now I've dealt with collectable paper and postcards for years and I "knew" these cards weren't worth more than $15 (which is what I ended up paying).

I put them on eBay and ended up getting over $400 for them.. I sweated it out until I got my positive feedback! Just goes to show you never know what will sell or for how much!

Nice freebie!
