Last Sunday (which happened to be Easter Sunday, sadly), my buddy's father had a stroke. By the time the medics arrived, he was unconscious. He remained in a light coma stage all last week, and was showing some slow signs of improvement (he could follow some simple commands, etc) until he suffered another major stroke on Friday. He can no longer breathe on his own, nor respond at all to anything. According to the doctors, he will not survive this latest turn of events. On Monday the doctors will run tests to determine whether or not there is any brain activity.

As one would suspect, the family is taking this tragedy hard. Steve is only 51, and was apparently in good health until this happened. He has a wife, as well as four children ranging from 15 - 25.

Please keep Steve and his entire family in your prayers and thoughts. I firmly believe that God can work miracles if that be His will, however the family is asking for prayer that God would resolve the situation in whichever way He sees fit -- whether that be healing or not.

Thank you much for any thoughts and prayers offered on Steve's behalf! :tu:

Tom

Prayers and wishes for Steve and his family. As you said, God has a plan, and letting him know you accept that plan makes whatever it may be easier to handle. We may not always understand it (we weren't meant to), but must accept that his reasoning is far better than ours, no matter what that may be exactly.

Thank you one and all! Your prayers and well-wishes are very much appreciated. :)

From what I heard tonight at a prayer vigil for Steve, it is quite possible that he has already passed away. It is hard to tell due to the life support that he is currently on, however tomorrow's brain tests should let us know. Apparently the reason that he had his second and possibly fatal stroke on Friday is because of a procedure done on Wednesday. I'm not well medically-inclined, however I believe that the surgeons used glue to take care of the weak blood vessel, and during the procedure they lost some glue in his circulatory system which later caused the second stroke.

Will keep you updated as I hear new reports on Steve's condition. Thank you all once again!

Nothing new as of yet. Apparently we're still awaiting the test results.

Thank you once again for all the thoughts and prayers!

Steve went Home to be with the Lord on Monday evening. His wife was at his side at the time. Earlier in the day, she had decided to take her husband off the life support on Tuesday, since Steve's condition had deteriorated so rapidly and he was no longer responding to anything. He was essentially brain dead. Steve's wife is relieved that she did not have to act upon that decision after all, and was thus able to avoid any possible guilt that would have ensued.

Thank you very much for all the prayers, thoughts, and well-wishes! They are much appreciated. If you feel so inclined, please continue to keep the family in your prayers, as this is a very difficult time for them (especially the children, who once again range in age from 15 - 25).

Please don't feel that your prayers weren't answered -- because they were. Perhaps not in the way that we would have liked, but the Lord knows what is best. Steve, a faithful servant of the Lord, is definitely in a much, much better place now, dining with his Maker in Heaven! :tu:

Thank you once again! :xf.love:
